ANAS Institute of Literature commemorated Martyrs of Khojaly

Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences held an event dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the Khojaly massacre.
Executive director of the Institute, Ph.D. in Philology, associate professor Mehman Hasanli, who opened the event with an introductory speech
He spoke on the bloody tragedy he committed against the civilian population and the brutality of the enemy. The speaker specifically noted that the Khojaly genocide is a war crime.

This is unequivocally genocide. Mehman Hasanli said that during the 44-Day Patriotic War, the people of Azerbaijan managed to avenge the innocent blood shed in Khojaly.
Under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Muzaffar, the Azerbaijani army was able to save its lands from enemy occupation. With this, the souls of people who were martyred in Khojaly found peace. The executive director spoke about the research conducted at the Institute, dissertations and monographs on the manifestation of the Khojaly genocide in literature.
He specially emphasized the activities of the employees of the institute, Elchin Mehraliyev, Rahid Khalilov, Elnara Akimova, Vugar Ahmed, Marziyya Najafova, Farida Hijran and other scientists.
Later, Dr. Marziyya Najafova, an employee of the Institute of Literature, gave a speech entitled "Khojali theme in Azerbaijani literature". Ms. Marziyya said that the Khojaly genocide is a sensitive topic in Azerbaijani literature, and at the end of the 20th century, Bakhtiyar Vahabzade, Khalil Reza Ulutürk, Qabil, etc. he emphasized that poets address this topic.
The speaker pointed out that after the 44-Day Patriotic War ended with a victory, the view on this topic has changed somewhat. He noted that if in the 1990s a feeling of disappointment and pessimism was felt in the prose and poetry written on the subject of Khojaly, today the spirit of victory is felt in the fiction works written on this topic in our modern literature.

At the end, the dear memory of people who were martyred in Khojaly was commemorated with a minute of silence.
