Academician Isa Habibbeyli, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) met with Iraq scientists attending the ANAS-organized international scientific conference commemorating the 530th anniversary of the famous Azerbaijani poet Muhammad Fuzuli.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli, spoke on the history of scientific-literary connections between Azerbaijan and Iraq, emphasised the necessity of collaborative scientific events. The head of ANAS also discussed the future of scientific relations.
Isa Habibbayli stated that a series of events were held in ANAS in connection with the implementation of President Ilham Aliyev's Decree "On the celebration of the 530th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Muhammad Fuzuli" and that an agreement was reached to organise an international scientific conference in Iraq for this purpose.
Dr. Mutaz Muhyi Abdulhamid, director of the Iraq Strategic Research Centre and chairman of the Iraq-Azerbaijan Friendship Society, and Dr. Sabah Kirkuklu, director of the Turkmen Culture Centre and editor-in-chief of the "Turkmen Eli" magazine, are interested in working closely with ANAS scientists to develop joint projects on Muhammad Fuzuli's life and work. They emphasised their identity and discussed the potential for the growth of mutual scientific cooperation.
During the meeting, issues such as the publication of translated works, monographs on the lives and works of individual literary figures, and mutual scientific articles were discussed in order to promote Iraqi and Azerbaijani literature in Iraq, and an appropriate agreement was reached.
