An international scientific conference "Makhtimgulu Faraki - an outstanding poet of world literature" held.

ANAS  Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi held "Makhtimgulu Faraki - an outstanding poet of world literature" an international scientific conference. The conference co-organized by ANAS Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi and the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts after Makhtimgulu of Turkmenistan Academy of Sciences. The conference was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Gurbanmammet Elyasov, scientists from Turkmenistan.

Before the event  the exhibition, reflecting the culture of Turkmenistan was held.

The international conference was opened by ANAS President, Academician Isa Habibbayli. Academician Isa Habibbeyli talked about the history of Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan relations, reminded that these relations developed further in the years of independence, on the services of the great leader Heydar Aliyev in the mentioned direction. He emphasized that the relations between the two brotherly countries are rapidly developing on the solid foundations laid by the National Leader and have risen to a new stage.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that today a new stage in the development of Turkmenistan-Azerbaijani scientific-literary relations has been implemented and noted that important work has been done at the state level in this direction. He said that the official documents signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, have opened a new horizon in terms of the multi-directional development of deep-rooted relations with the brotherly country Turkmenistan. The new opportunities created in this direction stimulate the further development of Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan relations in all areas. Within the framework of the new stage of cooperation established between ANAS and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, he pointed out that significant work has been done and important measures have been implemented in terms of the scientific and cultural development of Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan relations, including the study of the life and creativity of the prominent Turkmen poet Makhtimgulu Faragi.

Academician Isa Habibbayli also spoke on the importance of the exhibition at today's conference. He said that the materials displayed here bring the atmosphere of Turkmenistan to our country and pointed out that important works were presented at the exhibition. In connection with the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the prominent thinker Makhtimgulu Faragi, he emphasized that a series of events dedicated to the great poet are planned in Turkmenistan. 

At the end of his speech, the head of ANAS proposed to publish a joint book on the rich literary heritage of the great thinker as a contribution to the 300th anniversary of Mahtimgulu Faragi. Mahtimgulu presented Faragi's "Divan" to the guests.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Gurbanmammet Elyasov spoke at the conference and expressed his gratitude to the organizers of the event for the attention paid to the work of the powerful poet of the Turkmen people in Azerbaijan, Mahtimgulu Faraqi. The ambassador noted that Mahtimgulu Faragi's creativity influenced the culture not only of the Turkmen people, but also of other peoples of the world. The poet's rich heritage has been highly appreciated by the world community, his works have been translated into the languages of many nations. Gurbanmammet Elyasov pointed out that 2024 was declared "Year of Mahtimgulu" by the International Organization of Turkish Culture (TURKSOY) on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the prominent Turkmen poet and thinker Mahtimgulu Faragi.

Speaking about the Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations, which are connected by common moral values and religious and cultural roots, the ambassador emphasized that the cooperation relations between our countries have been deepening and expanding in various directions in recent years. Gurbanmammet Elyasov, as the ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan, said that he will provide all kinds of support for the further strengthening of relations between the two brotherly countries.

Then, the head of the department of literature of the Turkish peoples of the Institute of Literature, doctor of philology, professor Mammad Aliyev made a speech entitled "Peculiarities of the poetry of Mahtimgulu Faraqi and Molla Panah Vagif" and compared the poems of both poets based on examples.

Among Azerbaijani scientists, Doctor in Philology, Associate Professor Ismikhan Osmanli "Poems of Mahtimgulu Faragi" and PhD in Philology Tohfa Talibova delivered a report entitled "Issues of the study of the works of Mahtimgulu Faragi in Azerbaijani literature during the period of independence".

 Aymirat Amangilykov, the head of the Department for the preparation of exhibition works of the State Museum of the Center of Culture of Turkmenistan, an intern at the Painting Department of the Tasviri Art Faculty of the State Academy of Arts spoke at the conference. Turkmenistan Myratmergen Kuliev and Senior Researcher of the Department of Literature of the Turkic Peoples of the Institute of Literature, Doctor of Philology, Professor Nizami Taghisoy delivered a speech.
