On May 7, ANAS Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature held a scientific session on "The image of Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijani literature: from historical reality to ideal".
The event is dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
First, a book exhibition reflecting the rich heritage of the prominent statesman Heydar Aliyev was shown.
In his introductory remarks, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, ANAS President and Director of the Institute of Literature discussed the historical contributions made by National Leader Heydar Aliyev to the state of Azerbaijan. He stated that every year, on the eve of the Great Leader's birthday, on Memorial Day, and at other times, conferences, scientific sessions, and round tables honouring the precious memory of Heydar Aliyev are customarily held. These events are notable for their distinctiveness. Academician Isa Habibbeyli underlined that Azerbaijan, whose territorial integrity and sovereignty are fully guaranteed, marked National Leader Heydar Aliyev's 101st anniversary with a celebration for the first time this year.
The head of ANAS said that on September 25, 1990, when National Leader Heydar Aliyev was a candidate for parliament in the Milli Majlis, during his meeting with voters, he said that his biggest wish was to fully restore the territorial integrity of our country and to make Azerbaijan's independence forever. Saying that the Great Leader has taken great steps in the direction of ensuring the territorial integrity of our country, the head of ANAS emphasized that achieving a ceasefire on the front in 1994 was a historic service of Heydar Aliyev and that the genius leader brought stability to the country.
According to academician Isa Habibbeyli, one of the Great Leader's biggest contributions to our people was considering Azerbaijan's future and preparing a political successor for when he passed away. He remarked that the whole and unambiguous victory of our nation over its historical lands was guaranteed by the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He emphasised that as the victorious Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev's name is inscribed in golden letters across Azerbaijan's centuries-old history. Thanks to the victory in the 44-day Patriotic War and the quick anti-terrorist actions, Azerbaijan's state sovereignty has been fully restored. Head of the Department of Children's Literature, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Elnara Akimova, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani Literature of the 20th Century (Soviyet Era), Professor Asif Rustamli, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani Literature of the Independence Period of the Institute of Literature Tehran Alishanoglu, PhD in Philology Aygün Bagırli and Doctor of Philological sciences Alizade Asgarliand spoke on the subject.
In his social and political actions, Great Leader Heydar Aliyev shown sensitivity to creative sectors and cared for their preservation and advancement. It was mentioned in his speeches that during his leadership of Azerbaijan, he placed a high value on science, culture, literature, and the arts. With his astute actions, the well-known political figure Heydar Aliyev wrote the most magnificent and brilliant chapters in our contemporary history.
