Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences held the next meeting of the Presidium

Members of the Presidium of ANAS, heads of departments of the Presidium, directors of scientific institutions and organizations, scientific secretaries, as well as well-known researcher, poet and writer from Kirkuk Shamseddin Kuzachi and related persons took part in the event.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli, president of ANAS, opened the meeting with an introductory speech and informed about the agenda of the event.

First, a number of people were presented with "Labor veteran's card" for their long-term effective activities.

The first topic of discussion at the meeting was how to arrange for Aziz Sanjar, an honorary member of ANAS, a Nobel laureate, and a professor at the University of North Carolina in the United States, to visit the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, as well as organise events to coincide with his visit. Academician Isa Habibbeyli recalled that Nobel laureate Aziz Sanjar was chosen as an honorary member of ANAS during the organization's general assembly on November 29, 2023. In order to organise his extensive discussions with the scientific community of the Republic of Azerbaijan and to present the diploma and card of the Honorary Member of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli addressed a request for a visit to the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. The Nobel laureate gladly accepted the request.

Aziz Sanjar's report on "Turkish world science policy: realities and challenges" will be discussed at the extended meeting of the ANAS Praesidium during the visit, according to academician Isa Habibbayli. This will be one of the infrequent meetings with the Nobel laureate in the Academy's history. He also underlined how the people had welcomed the news of Aziz Sanjar's coming to our nation and how several public and political leaders had indicated their desire to attend the meeting with the scientist.

Aziz Sanjar's visit to our nation, according to the director of ANAS is entirely in line with the president's strategy of enhancing ties with the Turkic world and making it a top priority. The academy will continue to take steps in this direction. During the discussion, the topic of planning the visit of Professor Allahverdi Ashirov, President of the Turkmenistan Academy of Sciences, to the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan was also covered. According to academician Isa Habibbayli, Allahverdi Ashirov will be an ANAS guest in connection with the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan, which will take place in Baku and attract a number of public and governmental personalities from this nation.

Aademic noted that, meetings with Professor Allahverdi Ashirov will be scheduled in the Praesidium and scientific institutions of the Academy. Additionally, the Mahdimgulu Faraqi Turkmen Literature Centre will open with his participation, and an international scientific conference on "Mahdimgulu Faraqi and Azerbaijani literature" will take place at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS.

Considering the aforementioned, the ANAS Praesidium decided to arrange for Professor Allahverdi Ashirov's visit at a high level.

Additionally, on May 23–24, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, ANAS, and the Ministry of Science and Education will jointly host a scientific-practical conference on the topic of "Role of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in improving the environment in Azerbaijan" in honour of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, who was born 101 years ago. It was decided to host the art exhibition at a high level.

The organisation of an international scientific conference on archaeological tourism in collaboration with ANAS and the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan was the subject of discussion during the following meeting. Academician Isa Habibbeyli recounted that he first learned about the archaeological digs carried out by the ANAS Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology on Beshbarmag Mountain last year. He mentioned that the archaeological investigation was carried out in compliance with the contract that the ANAS Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology and the State Tourism Agency signed. According to the chairman of ANAS, this collaboration is beneficial and crucial for highlighting our nation's lengthy and rich past.

Then, along with the scientists from the participating nations, Associate Professor Farhad Guliyev, a Doctor of Philosophy in History and Director of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, provided information about the projects carried out in conjunction with the State Tourism Agency and the conference preparations. Furthermore, he said that work on creating 3D catalogues of the archaeological sites under investigation has begun, taking into account the efforts being made in the field of electronic archaeology.

The High Level International Scientific Conference will be held in conjunction with the State Tourism Agency, as decided by the ANAS Praesidium.

The participation of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in the III Turkic World Literature and Book Festival was the subject of discussion at the following meeting. Academician Isa Habibbayli said that, the festival, which will feature participation from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, will take place in the Academy of Sciences park from May 24 to May 31. This year's event will last eight days. The following nations will be honoured on each day of the festival: Turkey, Turkmenistan, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

 Then, Academics Arif Hashimov, Rasim Aliguliyev, Irada Huseynova, Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, Mukhtar Imanov, Gurban Yetirmishli, corresponding member of ANAS Huseyn Huseynov, Ph.D. in Technology, Fariz Imranov, Ph.D Shamseddin Kuzechi, and others discussed the concerns raised during the discussion and gave their thoughts and recommendations.
