The first meeting of the Scientific Council of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS was held this year.
The event was attended by members of the Scientific Council, heads of departments of the institute, doctoral and dissertation students.
President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, first brought to attention the issues on the agenda and stated that the main tasks facing the Institute of Literature in 2025 would be discussed at the meeting.
Then, Academician Isa Habibbeyli congratulated Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Nazakat Qafqazli (Guliyeva) on her 80th anniversary, reviewed her scientific activity, and spoke about the high human qualities of the jubilee.
Associate Professor Nazakat Qafqazli was awarded the Institute's Honorary Order for her 80th anniversary and fruitful scientific activity.
Recalling that 2025 was declared the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" in our country by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 28, 2024, the head of ANAS spoke about the upcoming tasks related to the said Decree. He noted that the declaration of 2025 as the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" is an event of great importance in the history of Azerbaijani statehood. This decision aims to protect, strengthen and once again emphasize the importance of the country's constitution and sovereignty.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli stated that in 2020, under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army won the 44-day Patriotic War and liberated our lands that had been under occupation for nearly 30 years, and as a result of the one-day local anti-terrorist measures held in September 2023, both the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country were fully restored.
Emphasizing that the foundations of today's historic Victory were laid by the far-sighted policy of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the head of ANAS noted that the Great Leader waged a resolute diplomatic struggle for the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and as a result of the Horadiz operation conducted under his leadership in 1994, 22 settlements of the region and the Jojug Marjanli village of the Jabrayil region were liberated from occupation. Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that during the leadership of the outstanding statesman Heydar Aliyev, he carried out important work to ensure the military security and defense of our country, and constantly kept the Azerbaijani Army and the process of its formation in the spotlight.
The event adopted decisions on approving the new composition of the Editorial Board of the journal "Azerbaijan Literary Studies", "Approval of the comprehensive plan of scientific research work of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature for 2025", as well as "Discussion and approval of the Work Plan of the Scientific Council of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature for 2025" and "Discussion and approval of the "Plan of Events" of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature for 2025".
Then, the head of the Institute's Education Department, Associate Professor Gunay Garayeva, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, delivered a speech on "On the certification of doctoral students and dissertation candidates in the field of sciences and preparation for the Doctor of Philosophy."
In the end, a number of current issues were discussed and relevant decisions were made.
