ANAS Departments of Humanities and Social Sciences jointly by ANAS Department of Physical-Mathematical and Technical Sciences held the VIII "Physics and Lyrics" conference on "Mathematical-astronomical view in Nizami Ganjavi's works" at the Shamakhi Astrophysics Observatory after N.Tusi.
The conference participants first visited the bust of prominent scientist, one of the founders of Academy, Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev on the campus of the Shamakhi Astrophysics Observatory.
Opening the event, ANAS Vice-President, Director of the Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi, Academician Isa Habibbayli stressed the importance of declaring 2021 the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" in our country. He noted that, thanks to the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Nizami's works were published in Latin script in our country and the 840th anniversary of his birth was widely celebrated. By the order of his worthy successor, AR President Ilham Aliyev the 870th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi was solemnly celebrated in 2011. The proclamation of 2021 as the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" in our country by the Presidential Decree dated January 5, 2021 laid the foundation for a new stage in the development of Azerbaijani literary science and made important commitments to study, promote and publish the genius writer's works in the light of Azerbaijanism. Calling Nizami Ganjavi one of the Eastern Renaissance, the scientist stressed the need to translate his works into world languages. He noted that, the launch of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom has created conditions for the involvement of Azerbaijani scientists, as well as world-renowned orientalists in research and advocacy. The Institute of Georgian Literature named after Shota Rustaveli, the University of Cambridge and the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi have implemented a joint research project "Nizami Ganjavi and Shota Rustaveli", and in 2021 the monograph of the same name was published in Azerbaijani, Georgian and English. Academician, head of the department of nizamistics of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi, Corresponding Member of ANAS Nushaba Arasli informed about the recently published monograph "Nizami and Turkish Literature" in Russian.
ANAS Vice-President, Director General of the Institute of Information Technologies, Academician Rasim Alguliyev informed about the implementation of the Action Plan in ANAS in connection with the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi", noting that scientists working in various fields of science were awarded this medal. The academician said that the world famous State Hermitage in St. Petersburg celebrates the 880th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi and highly appreciated the participation of the Azerbaijani scientific community in this event. “Nizami Ganjavi is the spiritual passport of the Azerbaijani people and we get to know the world" said Academician Rasim Alguliyev, expressing satisfaction with the holding of the conference at the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory named after Nasreddin Tusi of the Department of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences.
Then, Academician-Secretary of ANAS, Director General of the Institute of Physics, Academician Arif Hashimov said that Nizami Ganjavi organically united all sciences in his work.
Director of the Shamakhi Astrophysics Observatory, ANAS Corresponding Member Namig Jalilov noted the strengthening of scientific cooperation between the scientific institutions of the Academy and the observatory in recent years and praised the importance of this event. According to the scientist, the scientific facts in Nizami's works are still relevant in the study of terrestrial and cosmic phenomena.
The conference continued with papers. Imamverdi Hamidov, head of the Department of the Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi, Doctor of Philology, Professor delivered a paper on "Nizami Ganjavi and the Arab world" and called Nizami the shining sun in the world and the star of Azerbaijani literature.
The head of the Department of ANAS Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi, Doctor of Philology, Professor Tahira Mammad delivered a paper on "Scientific and artistic reflection of seasonal changes of the year in Nizami Ganjavi's creativity" and noted that, the great poet showed a deep knowledge of the scientific data of his time on astronomy.
Then, Adalat Atayi, head of the Department of the Shamakhi Astrophysics Observatory, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor also delivered a paper on "Modern scientific view in Nizami Ganjavi's work". The scientist informed the conference participants about interesting information about the existence of the crater named after Nizami Ganjavi on the planet Mercury, which is closest to the Sun.
As a sign of respect to Nizami Ganjavi, the conference participants performed excerpts from the poet's poems.
At the end of the event, Academician Isa Habbibeyli has donated to the library of the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory the academic publications dedicated to Nizami Ganjavi in 2021.
