ANAS held an international scientific conference on "Ahmed Agaoglu and the Turkic world"

On November 16, ANAS, the Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi held an international scientific conference on "Ahmed Agaoglu and the Turkic world.

ANAS President, Academician Isa Habibbeyli opened the event, announced that the city of Shusha will become the "Turkish World" in 2023 at the "Shusha Days" organized by the International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation in Bursa, Turkey in 2022 and attended by the ministers of culture of the Turkish states. He reminded that it was declared the cultural capital. He said that in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 6, 2022, "On measures related to the declaration of the city of Shusha as the "Cultural Capital of the Turkish World" for 2023, the Action Plan has been prepared in ANAS and relevant work has been done in this direction. Academician Isa Habibbeyli, who emphasized that today's conference was held within the framework of the mentioned Events plan, noted that well-known scientists of the Turkish world participated in the event.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that Ahmet Bey Agaoglu, a prominent socio-political figure and great thinker who lived and created at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, is one of the valuable personalities of Azerbaijan and the Turkic world. He pointed out that the multifaceted activities of Ahmed Bey Agaoglu both in Azerbaijan and in Turkey reveal the potential of the Azerbaijani people to train a genius thinker in his image.

The head of ANAS emphasized that Ahmet Bey Agaoglu demonstrated his loyalty to the ideas of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during his stay in Turkey and became one of his comrades in arms. Accepted as one of the figures who created Turkishism in Turkey at the beginning of the 20th century, Ahmed Bey Aghaoglugu has always maintained the integrity and tolerance he demonstrated in his turbulent activities in the "Union and Progress" party and the complex path he traveled.

Academician Isa Habibbayli added that the eminent thinker rendered invaluable services to the Azerbaijani people in the struggle to prevent the Armenian terror and the Russian influx at the beginning of the 20th century.

He pointed out that the unshakable union of the heads of state of Azerbaijan and Turkey, the strong foundations of the Azerbaijan-Turkey brotherhood laid by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, is an exemplary model of statehood for the countries of the world, and emphasized that today's conference, as Ahmed Bey Agaoglu wants to see, will be held in Azerbaijan, which has fully restored its sovereignty and independence. organization also means the realization of the dreams of a prominent thinker.

 Academician Isa Habibbayli also pointed out that the book dedicated to the environment and prose of Ahmed Bey Agaoglu by PhD in Philology, associate professor Shahbaz Shamioglu was published today. He noted that the materials collected in the book about the turbulent life of Ahmet Bey Agaoglu, a great thinker of the Turkish world, are a valuable source for studying many pages of our history.

Then, Doctor of History, Professor Dilara Seyidzade delivered a speech and spoke about the social and political activities of the great thinker Ahmet Bey Agaoglu. Dilara Seydizade said that in her scientific activity, she devotes a lot of time to research on the history of Azerbaijan in 1905, and during her research, she became more familiar with the works of a number of personalities, including Ahmed Bey Agaoglu. He pointed out that the prominent social and political figure has rendered unparalleled services for the history and present of Azerbaijan and Turkey, and has done great work in the creation of the "Difai" organization. Professor Dilara Seyidzade Ahmed bey Agaoglu noted the importance of the event in order to investigate the heritage of Agaoglu in a more organized manner and introduce it to the future generations.

The conference was attended by Nigar Akhundova, head of the "Ahmed Bey Agaoglu" National Research Public Union, Doctor of Philosophy in Art Studies, Professor Yasemin Giritli İnceoğlu, teacher from the "London School of Economics", Ömer Özcan, former advisor to the Ministry of National Education of Turkey, and Nikpur Jabbarli, head of the Department of the Institute of Literature, Doctor of Philologiy. Speaking at the eventNikpur Jabbarli said that the great thinker Ahmet Bey Agaoglu provided important services in the field of formation of Turkish thought, and occupied a special place in the history of science and culture of Azerbaijan as well as Turkey.

At the event, the lecture of Shahbaz Shamioglu, Ph.D. in Philology, "The epistolary legacy of Ahmed Agaoglu in the context of historical, cultural, social and political aspects" was listened.

Later, the conference continued its work with divisional meetings.
