An award ceremony for the winners of the 1st International Youth Competition named after Mirza Ibrahimov, a project of the "Protection and Promotion of the Heritage of Mirza Ibrahimov" Foundation, was organized at the Natavan Club of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union.
Opening the event the First Secretary of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the "Protection and Promotion of the Heritage of Mirza Ibrahimov" Foundation, People's Writer Chingiz Abdullayev spoke about the work of the outstanding writer, statesman and public figure, laureate of the State Prize, laureate of the International Nehru Prize, academician, People's Writer of Azerbaijan Mirza Ibrahimov, and his invaluable contributions to Azerbaijani culture and literature. He noted that Mirza Ibrahimov is one of the prominent representatives of the Azerbaijani literary, artistic and socio-political thought of the new era. Drawing attention to the special role of personalities like him in the spiritual awakening of the people, Chingiz Abdullayev also emphasized that studying the writer's scientific, theoretical and artistic heritage is an important issue.
The chairman of the jury of the competition, People's Writer Elmira Akhundova, spoke about the importance of the 1st International Youth Competition named after Mirza Ibrahimov, which is one of the first projects of the Foundation. E. Akhundova noted that, in addition to Azerbaijan, authors from the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, and the Islamic Republic of Iran participated in the competition, and the submitted works are dedicated to the study of a significant event in the life and work of Mirza Ibrahimov, reflecting the point of view consistent with the title of the People's Writer's famous novel “Gələcək gün”.
Elmira Akhundova said that the jury, consisting of prominent writers, literary scholars, and literary critics, made a unanimous decision on the winners, taking into account criteria such as artistic value, style unity, creative ideas, and level of knowledge, when evaluating and selecting the works.
Employees of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS were among the winners of the competition. Leading scientific worker of the South Azerbaijan Literature Department of the Institute, Doctor of Philology Parvan Mammadli, won the “Best Scientific Research Work” nomination.
The main prize of the competition was awarded to Orkhan Isayev, a scientific worker of the Department of Azerbaijani Oral Folk Literature and Written Monuments of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS. The essay “Southern Wind” written by Orkhan Isayev was awarded the Grand Prix for its new writing style and creative ideas.
