The artistic heritage of the genius Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi is the spiritual wealth of our nation, and the protection, research and promotion of this wealth is always in the center of attention as part of the policy implemented by the state of Azerbaijan. The decree of the head of state Ilham Aliyev on the declaration of 2021 as the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" in the Republic of Azerbaijan is a clear example of constant care and attention to the legacy of the immortal poet.

I would like to note that with this timely order, a new great period in the history of the science of systematic studies in Azerbaijan begins.

In the 20th century, Azerbaijani systematic studies opened new pages in the history of world science with its monumental contributions. During that period, the successful work done in the field of preparation, publication, translation, research and promotion of scientific and critical texts of Nizami Ganjavi's works confirmed the existence of a great school on the world scale - the Azerbaijan school of systematic studies.

It is the result of the activity of selfless scientists of Azerbaijan in the 20th century that today the Republic of Azerbaijan has become the main coordinating center for the study, publication and promotion of the heritage of Nizami Ganjavi in the world.

Even during the period of independence of Azerbaijan, our state always pays special attention to the development of systematic studies and does important work in promoting the legacy of the thinker on a world scale. With the decree signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on December 23, 2011 "On holding the 870th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi", the purposeful and successful activity of systematic studies has expanded further. Starting from the first years of our independence, the poet's mausoleum was restored and reconstructed in his native city of Ganja, and his statues were erected in Baku, St. Petersburg and Rome.

Among the works done during this period, it is necessary to highlight the successful activity of the "Nizami Ganjavi Scientific Center for Azerbaijan and Caucasian Studies", which was established in England in 2013 under Oxford University. This scientific center was established thanks to the support and patronage of the leadership of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the initiative of the rector of Moscow State University named after M. V. Lomonosov, corresponding member of ANAS, professor Nargiz Pashayeva, and professor of oriental studies of Oxford and New York universities Robert Hoyland. The scientific center has done a number of important works in the field of introducing the truths of Azerbaijan to the world, including conveying accurate information about the heritage of Nizami Ganjavi to the scientific community. Thus, in 1940, the outstanding Orientalist and Nizami scholar Y.E. Bertels wrote "Great Azerbaijani poet Nizami. The monumental monograph "Life, creativity and era" was translated into English and published in London in 2017 by "Gilgamesh" publishing house.

In addition, the holding of the international scientific conference "Interpretation of Nizami's cultural heritage in modern times" in Baku on March 14-15, 2018 at the initiative of the Scientific Center named after "Nizami Ganjavi" was an important historical event. Famous orientalists from different countries of the world were involved in this conference. Even those Western scholars who at the time presented Nizami as a Persian poet, after getting acquainted with the region, they understood the true essence of the matter and admitted that Nizami Ganjavi is a great poet of Azerbaijan.

It should also be noted that the scientific potential forces of Azerbaijan are directed to the areas of solving the actual problems of systematic studies, and now, at the initiative of academician Isa Habibbeyli, the Department of Structural Studies has been re-established at the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi. The study of the life and literary heritage of the genius poet is continued in various monographs and articles under the leadership of the head of the department Nushaba Arasli, corresponding member of ANAS. Thanks to the initiative of the Institute's management and the activities of the Department of Nizami Studies, the publication of the "Nizami Ganjavi Almanac" was restored. The first issue of the "Nizami Ganjavi almanac" published in Baku in 2019 was dedicated to the memory of the prominent orientalist scholar of Azerbaijan, academician Hamid Arasli.

A two-volume scientific monograph entitled "Nizami Ganjavi: his life and creativity" is being prepared for publication at the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi.

On January 5, 2021 was announced as the "Year of Orderly Ganjavi", and wider directions were opened for solving a number of orderly science problems. Important conditions for conducting accurate scientific research on the life, era, and literary environment of Nizami Ganjavi, uncovering the honest scientific-critical texts of the poet's works manuscripts, researching the ideological-philosophical-poetic features of his artistic heritage in a wider aspect, translating his poems into the languages of the world's peoples, and updating the works it happened. I hope that every specialist in these listed problems will make a valuable contribution to systematic science.
