The Mahtimgulu Faraqi Turkmen Literature Center has started functioning at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS.
The delegation led by the President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, Professor Allaberdi Ashirov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkmenistan to our country Gurbanmammet Elyasov, as well as the employees of the Institute of Literature and media representatives took part in the opening ceremony of the center.
In the center, an exhibition was set up displaying the flags of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, pictures of prominent state and political figures of the two countries, as well as books by Mahtimgulu Faraqi and other Turkmen thinkers.
At the ceremony, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, the President of ANAS, made a speech and evaluated the opening of such a center as a historical event with the participation of the President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the ambassador of the brother country to Azerbaijan, and emphasized that the center will contribute to the further strengthening of our friendship and brotherhood. He said that important works will be carried out in the center in the direction of studying the literature of Turkmenistan.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli, who said that since 2014, a series of events dedicated to Mahtimgulu Faraqi have been held in ANAS every year, stressed that Azerbaijan is the second country to study the author's work after Turkmenistan. He noted that the opening of the center is a new page in Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan scientific-literary relations and is of great importance. He also pointed out that 2 books were published on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the famous classical poet and philosopher of Turkmen literature Mahtimgulu Faragi. The head of ANAS said that the new books are an expression of the love of the Azerbaijani people for the Turkmen people.
Later, the President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, Professor Allaberdi Ashirov, spoke and said that this center will contribute to the further strengthening of our friendship and brotherhood. Professor Allaberdi Ashirov highly appreciated the works done in Azerbaijan, especially in the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature, in the field of publication and promotion of Mahtimgulu Faragi's work, and noted that the memory of the poet is remembered with infinite respect in the brotherly country.
Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, associate professor Ismikhan Osmanli Mahtimgulu said in his speech that important works have been done by ANAS regarding the study of Faragi's heritage. He mentioned that the hitherto unknown "Divan" of Mahtimgulu Faragi was discovered at the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of ANAS, and that the work was published with a large circulation under the scientific editorship of Academician Isa Habibbeyli.
Docent Ismikhan Osmanli said that the book "Poems of Mahtimgulu" was published in our country on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the great Ottoman Turkmen poet, and he also pointed out that the center related to Mahtimgulu Faraqi was opened in Azerbaijan for the first time.
