Book, reading and memory institutions in the information society: our scientists at the international Bishkek conference

The III International scientific-practical conference on "Book, reading and memory institutions in the information society" was held in Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic (Bishkek, May 24-27, 2023). The organizers of the conference are the "Information for All" Program of UNESCO, the Center for Interregional Library Cooperation and the National History Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic. At this international conference held in Bishkek, representatives from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, and Russia discussed issues related to the popularization of historical and cultural heritage, ensuring more efficient functioning of the functions and infrastructure of memory institutions, and new development perspectives of reading culture.

Stimulating the activities of the main institutions of reading support and development infrastructure - educational institutions, libraries, museums, publishing houses and the media, increasing professionalism, the theoretical foundations of the political and social goals and tasks facing developers and implementers of reading support and development programs, multidisciplinary knowledge (philosophy, cultural studies, sociology, political science, management theory, informatics, librarianship, etc.) the study of the possibilities of influence on national policy formation processes were the main issues of the agenda of the international conference. In particular, the importance, relevance, support and development of children and young people's reading, ways to overcome problems in this area, increasing the media's attention to the promotion of reading, studying and promoting advanced practices in this area were the main topics of discussion in the sections of the conference on libraries.

At the conference, education (universities, colleges, schools), culture (libraries, museums, archives), sciences (research institutes for social and humanitarian sciences), communication and information (mass media, organizations and individual representatives of the media), publishing houses, more than a hundred representatives of book trade enterprises, public organizations, representatives of state institutions, writers, journalists participated.

Congratulatory letter of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlan Shakiyev, Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Altynbek Maksudov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communication and Mass Media Jamila Isayeva, Director of the National History Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic at the opening ceremony of the conference Yıldız Bakashova, EA correspondent member, doctor of philological sciences, and Sergey Bakeykin, director of the Interregional Library Cooperation Center of YUNECKO's "Information for All" program, were heard.

Azerbaijan was represented at the conference by the head of the "Scientific information" department of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, PhD in philology, associate professor Zakira Aliyeva, deputy director for preservation and registration of museum exhibits of the National Azerbaijan History Museum, PhD in history, associate professor Mahfuza Zeynalova. . Zakira Aliyeva, head of the "Scientific information" department of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature, gave a report on "In the world of children's and youth literature: popularization and reading issues", at the same time, "Positive and negative aspects of the impact of information technologies on reading culture", "Literary and cultural in the information society" heritage", "Popularization of historical and cultural heritage in the digital age", "The birth of a new book industry as a crisis", "Libraries as institutions of memory, reading support and promotion", "Media and information in the digital age", "Digital world and real object: presentation formats", "Memory institutions in the digital world: new approaches and practice", etc. He participated in the discussions on topics that are relevant for the information society.

Mahfuza Zeynalova, deputy director of the Museum exhibits protection and registration of the National Azerbaijan History Museum, gave a report on "The National Azerbaijan History Museum in the value system of modern society" and moderated the sessions of the section entitled "Museum work and protection of cultural values", "National Museum as a territorial brand". "Literary exposition as a place of formation of reader's interest", "Great Altai - homeland of Turks: virtual museum: experience, creation and presentation of digitized materials", etc. was a participant in the discussions on the topics.
