ANAS Presidium held an event dedicated to September 27 – Memorial Day.
First, the dear memory of our martyrs, who died heroically in the battles for the territorial integrity of our country was commemorated with a minute of silence.
The event was opened by ANAS Acting President, academician Arif Hashimov, who noted that September 27 – Memorial Day dedicated to the martyrs who gave us the title of victorious people is proudly celebrated by all Azerbaijanis living in the world. He noted that in response to the large-scale provocation staged by the enemy on the front line, the Iron Fist operation, carried out by our victorious army under the leadership of our Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, led to surrender. In just 44 days, the historical lands of Azerbaijan were liberated from occupation in Armenia, restored justice. Academician Arif Gashimov stressed that the basis of the victory is the successful action plan of our army at the front, as well as the struggle of AR President, Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev in the field of diplomacy and information, his answers to provocative questions of foreign media representatives with his deep intellect, logic and worldview, too. played an important role.
He noted that the military personnel of the Academy, young specialists and children of employees also participated in the ranks of our army in the Patriotic War, as well as funds were transferred to the Assistance Fund for our Armed Forces of ANAS, various assistance was provided, and our scientists spoke about the rights of our people in the local and foreign press, at international events and in social networks confidently defended their position.
A.Hashimov, noting that so far the academy has published many high-quality research papers and maps related to the history of Karabakh, based on local and foreign sources, said that the activities of the Institute of History are highly appreciated in this regard, and the publications mentioned are a valuable source to determine our borders with Armenia and clarify toponyms. He stressed that ANAS contributed to the realities that arose during the war.
Then, ANAS Vice-President, academician Isa Habibbayli noted that today the Azerbaijani people visit the Alley of Martyrs, hold various events and express deep respect for the souls of our martyrs who ensured the territorial integrity of our country and heroically died in the Patriotic War. According to him, the victory in the Patriotic War became possible thanks to the unity of the people-army-strength of our country, the high leadership skills of Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that the activity of President Ilham Aliyev in wartime should be assessed in three directions, and said that the orders of the commander-in-chief and the tactics of battle on the battlefield determined the course of the war. At the same time, the head of the country gave interviews to more than 30 media organizations of the world, convincing the international arena that Azerbaijan is waging a just war and fighting only for its historical lands. The speaker said that the diplomatic efforts of President Ilham Aliyev both before and during the war, the balanced policy he pursued with the leading countries of the world played a decisive role in the fate of the Patriotic War.
He also noted that the course towards the transformation of Azerbaijan into an economically strong state, the foundations of which were laid by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, the signing of the "Contract of the Century", the commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, the implementation of TANAP, TAP and other mega projects under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev has became one of the main factors of our victory.
The speaker also said that the concept of "One nation, two states" proclaimed by the national leader Heydar Aliyev turned from a slogan into a strategy of interstate relations, political and moral support of the leadership and people of the fraternal state of Turkey in winning the Patriotic War added strength to our army.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that with the historic victory of Azerbaijan, the myth of "Great Armenia" was destroyed, as well as the Armenian diaspora and the lobby in the world were defeated..
Academician Yagub Makhmudov, adviser to ANAS, in his speech stressed that the Azerbaijani people, who have been constantly losing their lands and being invaded over the past 200 years, restored their territorial integrity, liberating their territories from the enemy under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. Y. Makhmudov said that Azerbaijan taught Armenian fascism a historical lesson with the victory in the Patriotic War and said that this victory is of great importance for our people.
ANAS Vice-President, academician Irada Huseynova noted in her speech that September 27 - Memorial Day - is one of the holy days for our people, and for this victory we will be eternally grateful to the Victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, our army, our martyrs and veterans. I.Huseynova said that, with the liberation of our lands from occupation, the great return of Azerbaijani science to Karabakh began after a 30-year break.
Member of ANAS Presidium, academician Adil Garibov, who spoke later, stressed that President Ilham Aliyev is a great military leader and a brilliant politician, and the high creative policy and diplomatic talent of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief played a big role in the victory in the Patriotic War.
The Chairman of ANAS Free Trade Union, Professor Habil Gurbanov spoke about the construction works carried out in Karabakh after the war, the big projects implemented in a short period of time and shared his impressions of his visits to the liberated territories.
