Antoine de Saint-Exupery (1900-1944) was born in Lyon to the family of Jean-Marc Saint-Exupery, an insurance agent. Antoine was the third of five children in the family. At the age of four, his father died without a brain hemorrhage.
In 1908, St. Bartholomew entered the school of the Christian brothers in Lyon, then, together with his brother François, continued his education at St. Croix's College in Mans, where he studied until 1914. He later studied at Fribur. In 1919 he became a student at the Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture.
The year 1921 can be considered a turning point in his destiny, when he was drafted into the army in France. Antoine enlisted in the 2nd Fighter Aviation Regiment in Strasbourg. He is first assigned to a working group, then he finally takes an exam to become a civilian pilot.
He took part in the battles against the German Nazis and showed military prowess. He is the author of many inventions as a mechanic.
He dies heroically in the midst of battles.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery recently was115th. My goal is not to celebrate this late anniversary, to write an autobiographical text about this strange writer.
