One of the finest scholars of Azerbaijani dramaturgy, Dr. Arif Safiyev, a Doctor of Philology, has gone away.
Fuzuli was the place of Arif Maharram oghlu Safiyev's birth on May 6, 1934. Following his graduation from the city high school, he was accepted into ASU's Faculty of Philology. 1958 marked his university graduation.He began his career in the editorial office of the daily "Avtomobil transporter" as a literary worker. Up until 1961, he was employed in the editorial office. Then he enrolled in the Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS graduate programme at the Institute of Literature. He continued to work as a researcher at the Institute after finishing his postgraduate studies in 1964. He was employed as a scientific secretary from 1969 until 1973. He was employed by the Institute as a senior researcher from 1973 till 1990. He later spent some time working at the Institute as a scientific secretary. Mr. Arif obtained the scientific title of candidate of sciences in philology after doing research on "Sabit Rahman's comedies".
Scientist Arif Safiyev was the focus of particular scientific investigation and examination. His works and essays mostly focused on the modernity, genre, and stylistic distinctiveness of the Azerbaijani drama of the 20th century, as well as its role in the literary-historical process, development issues, and the writers' creative skill. The scientist has written on playwrights such as I. Efendiyev, M. F. Akhundzade, J. Babbarli, M. Abrahamimov, and others.
