On October 11, ANAS Humanities Department and the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature held a scientific conference on “Mammad Araz – poet of national thought and historical memory” dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the People's Poet Mammad Araz.
First, an exhibition of the poet's works was shown in the lobby.
ANAS President, Academician Isa Habibbeyli opened the conference and talked about the rich creativity of Mammad Araz. Saying that the anniversaries of the national independence poet of Azerbaijan, Mammad Araz are always celebrated at a high level in our country, Isa Habibbayli drew attention to the fact that the poet's creativity is always highly appreciated by the Great Leader.
"Mammad Araz is a powerful Azerbaijani poet who is at the forefront of the struggle for national independence and who greatly supports the independence movement in our country with his works. His activity was evaluated by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev with the Order of Independence. At the same time, in the 50s and 60s of the last century in our country, at a time when ideology was at the forefront, the poet's poetry earned an eternal right to live in the history of Azerbaijani literature as a literature dedicated to the people, homeland, national ideals, development of the country, and evaluation of national and moral values. The poet's work is dedicated to the ideals of independence, Azerbaijan, and glorification of its great future. He earned the right to live forever with his art and creativity," said the head of ANAS.
Academician Isa Habibbayli drew attention to the fact that many of the poet's poems, which mainly address the themes of Motherland, attachment to the land, citizenship, and patriotism in his work, retain their relevance even today and are memorized by languages. The art, creativity and works of Mammad Araz, one of the great masters of Azerbaijani literature, will always live and serve to strengthen our independent statehood.
Talking about his friendship and unforgettable meetings with Mammad Araz, Isa Habibbayli also shared his memories of the poet.
At the conference, Professor Ilham Mammadli, General Director of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of ANAS, "A few words about the philosophical outlook of Mammad Araz", People's poet Sabir Rustamkhanli, "The national song of the stones of the motherland", Doctor of History Eynulla Madatli, "National thinking, national identity and history in the poetry of Mammad Araz" memory", professor Shahin Fazil "Mommed Araza's tribute - poem", doctor of philology Vagif Yusifli "Philosophical lyrics of Mammad Araz", professor Tahira Mammad "Mammad Araz's work in the context of epic poetry", doctor of philosophy Adil Asadov "The third of three geniuses - Mammad Araz ", docent Gunay Garayeva delivered reports on "Memory intertextuality in the poetry of Mammad Araz".
In the reports, Mammad Araz's creativity, personality, philosophical lyrics, national thinking, national memory, loyalty to the Motherland, land and other topics were discussed in the poet's poetry, and the great place and services of the poet in Azerbaijani literature were evaluated and discussed scientifically at various levels. It was noted that Mammad Araz's main source of inspiration is Azerbaijan, whose history is based on millennia and which always has its own say and position on the stage of history.
At the event, Professor Rafiga Azizova, PhD in philology Elnara Garagozova, research worker of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology Aypara Abbasova and other speakers talked about the poetry of Mammad Araz and commented on his poems.
At the end, the granddaughters of Mamed Araz Sara and Farah Abbasov read the poet’s poems.
