On September 23, the opening of the 3rd Nasimi - poetry, spirituality and art festival took place at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
The festival, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, in partnership with ICESCO, began its work with an international forum on the theme "In Search of Eternal Truth".
In addition to Azerbaijan, the forum was attended by scholars from Germany, Iran, Iraq, Canada, Kazakhstan, Oman, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Northern Cyprus, Tajikistan, and Turkey.
In his speech, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Adil Karimli said that the rich cultural heritage and literary traditions of Azerbaijan have served the spiritual development of our people for centuries, and the preservation of this heritage is one of the main priorities of state policy. He also noted that holding the festival is of great importance in terms of promoting Azerbaijani culture both in our country and internationally and contributing to global cooperation.
The Minister emphasized that these events are also being held within the framework of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country. The achievements achieved under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, further strengthen the development of Azerbaijani culture.
A video address by Salim bin Muhammad al-Malik, Director General of ICESCO, was presented at the opening of the forum. He said that Nasimi's heritage plays an indispensable role in the cultural and spiritual development of humanity. The Director General of ICESCO noted that by commemorating this heritage, the tradition of courage, inquiry and beauty is revived, and the path of humanity is illuminated. He also emphasized that Nasimi's heritage directs hearts and minds to light, unity, peace and prosperity.
Then, speaking, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Isa Habibbeyli said that he assessed the Nasimi Festival as an important international event in terms of promoting Azerbaijani art: "Nasimi showed the way not only in his time, but also for future generations, played a major role in the development of literature and the formation of intercultural dialogue. His works, bringing together humanistic principles and high aesthetic values, have become an indispensable part of the world's cultural heritage."
Director of the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi, professor, full member of ANAS Rafael Huseynov touched upon the rich philosophical and literary heritage of Imadeddin Nasimi, one of the greatest poets of the medieval East. He noted that Nasimi's creativity showed the way not only in his time, but also for future generations.
The academician added that Nasimi's legacy played a major role in the development of literature, the formation of intercultural dialogue and the enrichment of human thought. His works are still relevant as a heritage that serves the spiritual growth of man, free thought and the principles of justice and inspire young generations.
Later, the honored guests took a joint photo with the participants of the international event.
The forum will continue its work with panel sessions.
It should be noted that the festival, which will be held in Baku and Shamakhi for three days, attracts attention with its rich program. Discussions, exhibitions, musical presentations on Nasimi's creativity will be organized within the framework of the festival, and performances will be shown.
The second day of the festival will take place in Shamakhi - Nasimi's hometown. The festival, which will be held in the Nasimi Gardens Complex, will cover various venues in this area. Here, an artistic program dedicated to Nasimi's creativity with the participation of well-known and beloved singers, vocalists, and reciters, an open-air "Multidisciplinary Art Festival", and an artistic concert program will be presented.
Nasimi festival has been organized since 2018. This year, the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization - ICESCO has become a partner of the Nasimi festival.
