President of ANAS Academician Isa Habibbeyli met with Igdir University Rector and President of the Turkish Azerbaijan Association Professor Ekrem Gurell.
At the meeting held at the Presidium of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli congratulated Prof. Dr. Ekrem Gurell on his appointment as Rector. He noted that the friendly and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey, which are based on historical roots and in modern times are based on the words of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev “One nation, two states”, have reached their highest level in recent years as a result of the close relations between President Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that today both brotherly countries cooperate strongly in all fields, support each other at all levels and in the international arena, and show their solidarity and brotherhood to everyone.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli, who said that ANAS has been closely cooperating with academic scientific institutions and higher education institutions of the brotherly country for many years, emphasized his readiness to provide all possible support for joint cooperation with Igdir University. The head of ANAS also brought to attention the possibility and importance of opening the Dede Gorgud Center for Azerbaijani Studies at Igdir University and establishing a library reflecting Azerbaijan, as well as the possibility and importance of the Academy's employees conducting online classes for the university's students.
Then, speaking, the rector of Igdir University, Prof. Dr. Ekrem Gürel, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and voiced his proposals for joint cooperation. He noted that joint research with Azerbaijani scientists can yield high results. He also stated that Igdir city is a gateway to the Turkic world and that the university will provide wide opportunities for new students from brotherly countries, especially Azerbaijan, who want to receive higher education.
Prof. Dr. Ekrem Gürel, including the opening of the Dede Gorgud Azerbaijan Studies Center with the support of ANAS at Igdir University, supported the idea of establishing a library reflecting Azerbaijan.
Then, a number of issues were exchanged and an agreement was reached on joint cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Department of Foreign Relations and Work with International Scientific Organizations of the Presidium of ANAS, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Associate Professor Esmira Alirzayeva, and the Head of the Department of Public Relations, Press and Information, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Agahuseyn Shukurov.
