ANAS Institute of Literature by the participation of poets of the world held the event on "Salam to Shusha".

 The event, which was attended by writers from Turkey, Hungary, Moldova, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, also included presentations of the books "Salam to Shusha", "Poetry Writes Me", and "The Masks of Brezhnev".

Making an introductory speech, President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli expressed his satisfaction with welcoming the guests to the 91-year-old institute. Providing information about the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that this scientific institution has departments that study Azerbaijani literature, as well as world and Turkic literature. At the same time, he noted that the Alisher Navoi, Makhtimgulu Faragi, and Mehmet Akif Ersoy centers are also operating. Informing the guests about the scientific publications of the Institute, Academician Isa Habibbeyli also mentioned the journals studying literary criticism. He said that one issue of the journal “Comparative Literary Criticism” is dedicated to Uzbek literature, and one issue is dedicated to Abay Kunanbayev. Recalling the research of Chingiz Aitmatov at the Institute, the publication of Yunus Emre in Azerbaijani, Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that a three-volume anthology on Belarusian literature was prepared by Malahat Gadirova. He said that a dissertation on Hungarian literature was written, and a book on the history of Hungarian literature was translated into Azerbaijani and will be published in the near future. He said that ANAS is interested in establishing relations with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and that he has invited the President of the Hungarian Academy to the 80th anniversary of the Academy.

Stating that Turkish literature is comprehensively studied in all scientific centers of Azerbaijan, especially at the Academy, Academician Isa Habibbeyli also stated that ANAS has formed scientific relations with the peoples of the world. He also emphasized the special role of Selim Babullaoglu in the field of translation and promotion of world literature.

Then, the Secretary of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union for International Relations and Translation Issues, poet, essayist Selim Babullaoglu delivered a paper, and he provided information about the "Salam to Shusha" project implemented in the "Shusha Year". He stated that the project appealed to poets from 32 countries. Informing the participants about each of the guests, Selim Babullaoglu spoke about the translation and presentation of Nikolae Spetaru's novel "The Masks of Brezhnev" and Atilla Balash's book "Poetry Writes Me" to the Azerbaijani reader.

Among the guests, Hungarian poet Atilla Balash, Moldovan Nikolae Spetaru, Turkish writers Adnan Özer, Barış Bahar, Belarusian poet Mariya Kobets, Kazakh scholar and poet Kadyrbek Kunıpiyauli, and Uzbek poet Adhambek Alimbekov recited their poems in their native languages. Selim Babullaoglu presented the poems in Azerbaijani.

At the event, Doctor of Philology Abuzar Bagirov read his poem on the theme of patriotism and Farid Huseyn, Azerbaijan Writers' Union of  Youth Council, spoke about the projects implemented by the Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation.

At the end, the guests were presented with publications from the Institute of Literature.
