The next part of the multi-volume “History of Azerbaijani Literature” has been published

The first part of the seventh volume of the ten-volume “History of Azerbaijani Literature” has been published by the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS. The first part of the seventh volume, published by the decision of the meeting protocol No. 7 of the Scientific Council of the Institute dated December 9, 2024, covers Azerbaijani literature of the Soviet period (1920-1980s). The first part of the seventh volume, consisting of three parts, deals with the literature created in the 1920-1950s.

The 1160-page book was published under the general editorship of the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli. The editorial board of the volume includes academician Isa Habibbeyli (editor-in-chief), Shirindil Alishanli, Asif Rustamli (editors-in-chief), Gunay Garayeva (editor-in-chief), Mehman Hasanli, Alizadeh Askerli, Aygun Bagirli, Sara Osmanli, Safura Guliyeva.

The book, published by the “Elm” publishing house, begins with a large-scale study by academician Isa Habibbeyli entitled “Azerbaijani Literature of the Soviet Period: From Socialist Realism to Critical Realism and Modernism”.

The first part of the seventh volume of the book “History of Azerbaijani Literature”, which is a collective scientific and creative product, includes reviews on the development process of Azerbaijani literature in the 1920s-1950s and essays on literary personalities. The topics in the book are presented by periods and directions. The academic publication includes reviews, forty-seven portrait essays and summaries on poetry, prose, dramaturgy, literary studies, literary criticism, repression and literature and other areas of 20th century Azerbaijani literature from the 1920s to the 1950s.

The book, consisting of fundamental scientific research essays, includes the research of scholars such as Isa Habibbeyli, Shirindil Alishanli, Asif Rustamli, Badirkhan Ahmadov, Safura Guliyeva, Tehran Alishanoglu, Tahir Masimov, Nizameddin Shamsizadeh, Nazif Gahramanli, Aslan Salmanov, Aygun Bagirli, Rahid Ulusel, Yadigar Askerova, Gurban Bayramov, Yashar Garayev, Yagub Ismayilov, Dilara Adilova, Mammadali Mustafayev, Zaman Askerli, Mammad Aliyev, Gazanfar Pashayev, Ilham Mammadli, Sara Osmanli.

The list of literature in Azerbaijani, Turkish, Russian, Persian, as well as archival materials and internet resources was systematized by Aytac Nasirzade and Rasta Fatiyeva. The book also provides detailed summaries in Azerbaijani and Russian.
