In accordance with the Order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press, events continue at the republican level. The Department of Press History and Journalism of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences participated in an event dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the national press in the Gimil Qishlag village municipality of the Khachmaz region. The head of the department, Doctor of Philology, Professor Vugar Ahmed, made a comprehensive report on the history of our press and provided information about the activities of the employees in this direction.
At the event, the senior research fellow of the Department of Press History and Journalism, Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor Gulbeniz Babayeva, made a detailed report on the newspapers “Ekinchi”, “Ziyayi-Qafqaziyya”, “Keshkul”, “Shargi-rus” and the magazine “Molla Nasreddin”. The senior research fellow of the department, Doctor of Philology Elchin Mehraliyev, delivered a report describing the journalism of Azerbaijan during the period of independence, the 44-day Patriotic War, and the image of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev in journalism during that period. The report of the leading research fellow, PhD in Philology Gulnar Saman on the history of the journal “Science and Life”, which began publication in 1961 and continues to operate today, was listened to, as well as the department’s employees Shahana Mammadova, Leyla Mammadova, Samira Karimova, Kamina Dadashova, Hajimahammed Mahmudov and others.
The artistic director of the House of Culture, reciter Elchin Ibrahimov recited examples of Azerbaijani poetry published in periodicals.
Finally, Jeyhun Mustafayev, chairman of the Gimil Qishlag village municipality of the Khachmaz region, expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Institute of Literature and the employees of the Department of Press History and Journalism for organizing the event.
