In accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On the celebration of the 530th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Muhammad Fuzuli”, a presentation ceremony of the books “Muhammad Fuzuli. Bibliography”, published jointly by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Library, and “Muhammad Fuzuli. Life and Creativity”, published by the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS, was held at the National Library on July 11. A presentation ceremony of the books “Muhammad Fuzuli. Bibliography” and “Muhammad Fuzuli. Life and Creativity” was held at the National Library.
The event was opened by the Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan, Professor Karim Tahirov, who welcomed the guests. He noted that the Decree “On the Celebration of the 530th Anniversary of Muhammad Fuzuli” signed by the President of the Republic, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, confirmed the invaluable position of this great personality in the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan, and said that both works presented will pave the way for a new stage of Fuzuli studies and are a complete encyclopedic work for future researchers who want to explore Fuzuli’s work more broadly and deeply.
President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, made a broad and comprehensive analysis of both books in his speech. He noted that both books written about Muhammad Fuzuli are very valuable as an example of solidarity, unity, and cooperation between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the National Library, which is a scientific and ideological center, and the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS. All events carried out in accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On the celebration of the 530th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Muhammad Fuzuli”, as well as the dedication of the International Book Fair to Fuzuli in 2024, are a contribution to the re-presentation and promotion of Fuzuli as an Azerbaijani poet on an international scale in modern times. He stated that the book “Muhammad Fuzuli. Bibliography”, which covers about 7 thousand sources, is the first extensive, systematic magnificent work published so far, covering a period of 530 years, starting from “Ahdi-Baghdadi”. He added that for the first time, more than 500 manuscripts and stone inscriptions are given in this bibliography. He said that the book “Muhammad Fuzuli. Life and Creativity”, prepared by the “Fuzuli Studies” sector of the Nizami Ganjavi Literary Institute, is the most significant scientific research work with a generalized and extensive scope.
