Presentation of the book "Concepts of Myth in Mytho-Poetic and Philological Thought" was held

On July 8, ANAS Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature held  presentation of the book “Myth Concepts in Myth-Poetic and Philological Thought” by the late employee of this institution, Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor Parvana Bekirgizi, which was published by the Gazi Publishing House in Ankara.

Opening the event the President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli has provided information about the scientific activity of Parvana Bekirgizi, one of the well-known representatives of Azerbaijani literary criticism. He noted that the life and work of the late scientist were connected with the science of literary criticism and the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature. He noted that Parvana Bekirgizi defended the PhD dissertations on “Problems of studying the tragedy genre in Azerbaijani literary criticism” and her doctoral dissertations on “Artistic structure and mythopoetic thinking of 20th century Azerbaijani literature (based on prose and dramaturgy)” at the Institute of Literature. The scientist worked in the Department of Literary Theory of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature, and also served as a deputy in the Humanitarian Department of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and in the Expert Council on Philology.

The head of ANAS said that the scientific activity of Doctor of Philological Sciences Parvana Bekirgizi was mainly devoted to the study of the poetic structure and mythopoetic thinking of 20th century Azerbaijani literature. He noted that the scientist made great contributions to the development of mythopoetics into an independent scientific direction.

Stating that Parvana Bekirgizi's works on both the tragedy genre and mythopoetics were works written for Azerbaijaniism, the president of ANAS emphasized that feelings such as Azerbaijaniism, independent thinking, independent statehood, patriotism, nationality, and attachment to lineage were manifested at the highest level in her works. He characterized Parvaneh Bekirgizi as an Azerbaijani literary critic and an excellent literary theorist.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that the works of the late scientist, in addition to their scientific significance, were also an important event in Azerbaijani studies. He emphasized that Parvana Bekirgizi, who embodied all the positive qualities characteristic of a true Azerbaijani woman, was a scientist who was truly devoted to her nation, state, roots, customs, literature, and history. Her scientific and theoretical thoughts and ideas will always be continued and kept alive by her colleagues. As the years pass, the greatness of Parvana Bekirgizi's personality, the essence and scale of her work for the development of science will become clearer and more complete.

Then, the head of the Institute's Department of Literary Theory, Doctor of Philology, Professor Tahira Mammad delivered a paper on "Continuation of Life". The speaker said that Parvana Bekirgizi was distinguished not only by her knowledge and scientific research, but also by her objectivity, commitment to the principles of justice, and honest position. He was a simple, reserved, patient, tolerant, and strong-willed person.

At the event, Doctor of Philology, Professor Mahira Huseynova, Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor Sara Osmanli, Doctor of Philology, Professor Rahila Geybullayeva, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Maral Yagubova, PhD in Philology Aysel Gurbanova, Researcher Shamsura Ismayilova, Doctor of Philology Rustam Kamal, Doctor of Philology Sevinj Aliyeva and others drew attention to various aspects of Parvana Bekirgizi's work, stating that she was an intellectual with noble human qualities, and shared their memories of the scientist.

The speakers also shared their thoughts on the publication presented to the public and said that the work is a valuable contribution to science.

Finally, on behalf of Parvana Bekirgizi's family, her husband, Doctor of Philology Jalal Beydili (Mammadov) sharing his memories on his wife and colleague, and expressing his gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event.
