A meeting with representatives of the International Academy of Literature, Art, Culture, and Social Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan took place on July 2 at the Presidium building of ANAS.
The meeting was attended by the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, staff members of the Presidium administration of ANAS, representatives of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS, and from Uzbekistan, the President of the International Academy of Literature, Art, Culture, and Social Sciences, Academician Abdulla Mengkobilov, member of the Academy, poet, translator, Academician Abdurakhim Eshon and member of the Academy, poet, publicist, Academician Hodi Bogilov.
During the meeting held first with the head of ANAS, a certificate of full membership and a medal of the International Academy of Literature, Art, Culture, and Social Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan were presented to the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli.
Further, the meeting continued in the small hall of the Presidium of ANAS.
Speaking at the meeting, the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli mentioned that the friendship and brotherhood relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are based on our historical roots, and that in the modern era, the exceptional contributions of National Leader Heydar Aliyev played a key role in the expansion of these ties. He noted that even during the Soviet period, the Great Leader invited Uzbek scientists, poets, writers, and cultural figures to Azerbaijan and worked to expand bilateral relations. Today, the policy of the National Leader is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev, and the relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have risen from the level of brotherly ties to the level of strategic partnership. He stressed that the main factor in reaching this level is the friendly and brotherly relations between Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The academician also underlined that the wide opportunities created by the Heads of State also give impetus to the development of relations in the field of science.
The head of ANAS underlined that holding of the second meeting of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Supreme Interstate Council today, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is on a visit to our country, demonstrates the level of development of our relations. Uzbekistan has always supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The state of Uzbekistan built one of the first schools in liberated from occupation Karabakh, a secondary school named after Mirzo Ulugbek in Fuzuli.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli also informed the guests about the cooperation relations between ANAS and the scientific institutions of Uzbekistan.
Stating that the prominent Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi considered Nizami Ganjavi his master, while Muhammad Fuzuli referred to Navoi as his teacher, the head of ANAS said that Alisher Navoi Centers operate at the Institute of Literature of the Academy as well as in its Ganja Division, and a Muhammad Fuzuli Center operates at Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature in Uzbekistan.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli highly appreciated the translation of the poems of the prominent Azerbaijani poet Molla Panah Vagif into Uzbek by the International Academy of Literature, Art, Culture, and Social Sciences and their publication in book form, and said that this step is another contribution to the strengthening of our relations.
Then, the President of the International Academy of Literature, Art, Culture, and Social Sciences of Uzbekistan, Academician Abdulla Mengkobilov said that he was visiting Baku for the first time and was pleased with the development of our country. Saying that Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan relations today are at a high level in all fields, A. Mengkobilov emphasized that they welcomed Karabakh Victory of Azerbaijan with great pride and recited his poem “Karabakh,” which he wrote in 2020.
Abdulla Mengkobilov said that our countries support each other in all fields on the international arena, and great responsibility falls on scientists and specialists in the expansion of relations in science and culture.
He stated that the poems of the prominent Azerbaijani poet Molla Panah Vagif had been translated into Uzbek and published by the academy he leads, and such initiatives would continue in the direction of expanding our relations. Then Academician Abdulla Mengkobilov presented the new publication to Academician Isa Habibbeyli.
Further, members of the International Academy of Literature, Art, Culture, and Social Sciences of Uzbekistan, Academicians Abdurakhim Eshon and Hodi Bogilov made speeches. They expressed their love for our country, our literature, and our culture, and recited poems authored by them.
Professor Farida Azizova, Head of Department at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS, Doctor of Philological Sciences Sarkhan Khaveri, Head of Department of the Presidium administration of ANAS, and PhD in Political Sciences Sanan Hasanov, Chairman of the Free Trade Union of ANAS and poet and translator Shahmammad Daglaroglu also delivered speeches. They spoke about the friendship and brotherhood relations between our countries and the development of our scientific ties.
After the speeches, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between ANAS and the International Academy of Literature, Art, Culture, and Social Sciences of Uzbekistan. The document was signed by Academician Isa Habibbeyli and Academician Abdulla Mengkobilov.
Then, mutual gifts were presented, and commemorative photos were taken.
