On June 26, was celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) at the rectorate building of Ankara University in Turkey.
The event, which was held by the initiative of the Turkish Academy of Sciences and with the support of Ankara University and was attended by a delegation led by the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, as well as representatives of various international and local institutions and organizations, higher education institutions, diplomats, and scientists.
Opening the event, Ankara University Rector, Professor Necdet Univar, recalled that the educational institution he led had once awarded the title of honorary doctor to National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
Emphasizing that the cooperation between the two brotherly countries continues successfully in the fields of science and education, the rector expressed his gratitude to the leadership of ANAS for their contribution to this process.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli said in his speech that since its establishment, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences has been recognized as a center that has transformed the scientific and intellectual potential of our republic into a national asset, having passed a path rich in achievements.
President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, Professor Muzaffer Şeker also drew attention to the unity of Turkey and Azerbaijan.
“We saw and felt the support of brotherly Azerbaijan in the reconstruction of the earthquake region. We thank the Azerbaijani people and President Ilham Aliyev personally once again,” said the head of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, noting that the Turkish people also support Azerbaijan in all areas.
Later, ANAS President Isa Habibbeyli was awarded with an honorary doctorate diploma from the Turkish Academy of Sciences.
