On June 19, ANAS Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature held a scientific session on “Outstanding poet, critic and literary critic Gasim Gasimzadeh in timelessness”, dedicated to literary scholar, laureate of the Azerbaijan State Prize, Doctor of Philology Gasim Gasimzadeh.
The participants of the event first got acquainted with the exhibition reflecting the life and work of the scientist, where the writer’s books were displayed.
The presentation of the books “Gasim Gasimzadeh. In timelessness” and “The immortal years of life” was also held within the framework of the scientific session.
Opening the event, the President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, characterized Gasim Gasimzadeh, a well-known representative of the literary generation of the 1950s in Azerbaijani literature, as a creative intellectual, a true citizen, and an outstanding poet, and provided information about his rich heritage.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that ideological tendencies were a minority in Gasim Gasimzadeh's artistic creativity, and that a consistent, active life position and naturalness were clearly distinguished in the writer's poetry. He noted that Gasim Gasimzadeh came to the literary scene as a poet, critic-literary scholar, and publicist, and embodied the most characteristic features of the great historical period, its ideological and artistic searches in his works.
At the scientific session, Honored Scientist, Doctor of Philology, Professor Gazanfar Pashayev presented his report entitled "A Word about Gasim Gasimzadeh." The speaker drew attention to various aspects of Gasim Gasimzadeh's work, said that he was an intellectual with noble human qualities, and shared his fond memories of the scientist.
Also at the event, Associate Professor Gurban Bayramov delivered a paper on "Scientific Organizer, Public Figure", Doctor of Philology Vagif Yusifli delivered a paper on "The Poetry of Gasim Gasimzadeh" and Associate Professor Safura Guliyeva delivered a paper on "The Journalism of Gasim Gasimzadeh".
Later, writer, poet Seyran Sakhavat, Doctor of Philology, Professor Asif Rustamli, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Ilham Mammadli, and Chief Bibliographer of the National Library of Azerbaijan Mehriban Jafarova spoke and shared their thoughts on the life, personality, and literary work of Gasim Gasimzadeh.
At the end, the poet's son, ADA University professor Nariman Gasimzadeh, expressed his gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event and shared his memories of his father.
