ANAS Institute of Literature held a meeting with researcher-scientist, poet and professor Faruk Faik Kopurlu

On April 19, ANAS  Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi held a meeting with researcher-scientist, poet, professor Faruk Faik Kopurlu.

At the event, the Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of the Institute of Literature, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Mehman Hasanli spoke on the history of Azerbaijani-Kirkuk literary relations and noted that Professor Faruk Faik Kopurlu, one of the founders and researchers of Turkmen culture, had a great role in the development of these relations.

Speaking about the work done to study and systematize the Iraqi-Turkmen scientific and literary environment, history, language, ethnography and folklore in a wider sense, Associate Professor Mehman Hasanli brought to attention the establishment of the Coordination Council for Iraqi-Turkmen Studies at ANAS.

He said that in modern times, Iraq-Azerbaijan, Kirkuk-Azerbaijan relations are developing at a high level, and stated that the meeting with Professor Faruk Faik Köprülü is of great importance as a continuation and a new stage of the existing cooperative relations.

Then, Associate Professor Mehman Hasanli presented Professor Faruk Faik Kopurlu with a monograph dedicated to the great Azerbaijani poet Muhammad Fuzuli, which was prepared by the Fuzuli Studies Sector of the Literary Institute and has just been published, as well as a book published in three languages ​​by the Literary Institute.

At the event, the senior research fellow of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature, Professor Gazanfar Pashayev, Professor of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Doctor of Philology Elman Guliyev, Leading Research Fellow of the South Azerbaijan Literature Department of the Institute of Literature, Doctor of Philology Esmira Fuad, head of the Institute's Department, Professor Imamverdi Hamidov, Research Fellow Orkhan Isayev and others spoke and provided information about the literary and scientific research of Professor Faruk Faik Kopurlu, highly appreciating his services in the field of research and promotion of Azerbaijani-Iraqi-Turkmen literature.

It was noted that Faruk Faik Kopurlu, who has been engaged in literature since his youth, is the author of more than 50 books in Arabic and Turkish. 6 of these books are dedicated to Azerbaijan. He also prepares and presents literature and folklore programs on the Turkmen Radio in Baghdad. He has been the host of the "Turkmen eli" program for 40 years. He has made great contributions to the Turkmen culture of Iraq with his scientific and cultural activities.

In the speeches, it was noted that today's meeting will give impetus to future work on contemporary Turkmen literature, and Faruk Faik Kopurlu's poems about Azerbaijan were also recited.

In conclusion, Professor Faruk Faik Kopurlu expressed his gratitude to the leadership of ANAS for organizing the event and the high appreciation given to its activities. He noted that Iraqi Turkmens and Azerbaijani Turks come from the same lineage, have a common culture, language and folklore. Faruk Faik Kopurlu spoke about the literary relations between Azerbaijani and Iraqi Turkmens, the place of Turkmens in the Turkic world, and the joint activities between Azerbaijani and Iraqi literary figures, and thanked the participants of the event for the sincere meeting.
