On May 16, a meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences was held.
The meeting was attended by ANAS President, Director of the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, members of the Scientific Council, institute employees and relevant persons.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli opened the meeting of the Scientific Council and brought to attention the issues on the agenda.
Then, Academician Isa Habibbeyli presented the newly published book “The Life and Creativity of Muhammad Fuzuli”, prepared under the leadership of Doctor of Philology Ataemi Mirzayev on the basis of the Fuzuli Studies Sector of the Institute of Literature. Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that this publication, which is a valuable scientific contribution to the study of the heritage of Muhammad Fuzuli, is the author’s scientific creative passport.
The next issue discussed at the meeting was related to the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev “On the Celebration of the 190th Anniversary of Seyid Azim Shirvani” dated April 4, 2025 and the tasks ahead in this direction. Academician Isa Habibbeyli emphasized the importance of extensive research into the work of the outstanding enlightener poet and gave relevant instructions on the preparation of a plan of measures for this purpose. During the discussion, the issue of organizing a scientific conference on the anniversary of Seyid Azim Shirvani and holding the event both in Baku and in the poet’s native city of Shamakhi was also brought to attention.
Then, the issue of the Order of President Ilham Aliyev dated May 8, 2025 on the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the People's Poet Fikrat Goja was considered, and a number of initiatives were discussed. It was proposed to organize an event dedicated to the poet's anniversary at the Literary Institute and hold a scientific conference in the city of Agdash, where he was born.
Instructions were given on the publication of books from the "Artist's Passport" series dedicated to the life and work of both poets, the publication of scientific research in this field in the press, and the preparation of scientific articles.
The meeting also touched upon the Order of President Ilham Aliyev "On the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the national press of Azerbaijan". Academician Isa Habibbeyli, emphasizing the irreplaceable role of the national press in the socio-political and cultural life of the country, its importance in the development of enlightenment, recommended holding a special event at the Literary Institute within the framework of the anniversary, as well as continuing the transliteration work of magazines of the last century by the relevant departments of the institute.
The meeting also provided information on the status of preparations for the “Literary Process – 2024” creative conference. The head of the Department of Literary Criticism, Doctor of Philology Vagif Yusifli, made a speech and presented the list of authors under the program of the conference, which is scheduled to be held in June of this year.
At the same time, the Scientific Council heard information about the foreign business trips of the employees of the Institute of Literature.
Then, the scientific secretary of the institute, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology Aygun Bagirli, voiced current issues to be discussed. The issues of appointing scientific supervisors to a group of dissertation and doctoral students of the institute, as well as recommending books, monographs and conference materials authored by employees of the scientific institution for publication, were considered and the appropriate opinion was given.
