Students of one of Turkey‘s leading universities were informed about the legacy of the great Nizami Ganjavi

A conference dedicated to the legacy of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi was held at Haji Bayram Veli University in Ankara on May 6.

AZERTAC reports that the event was held under the joint organization of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center under the Embassy of our country in Turkey and the Center for the Application and Study of Turkology of Haji Bayram Veli University on the theme "The Wisdom of Nizami Ganjavi Across the Centuries".

Addressing the teachers and students of the Turkish university, Samir Abbasov, the director of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center under the Embassy of our country in Turkey, called Nizami Ganjavi "a treasure of world heritage", and the works of the great son of Azerbaijan "a rare treasure of spiritual art".

S. Abbasov emphasized that even after 880 years, the creativity of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker does not lose its relevance.

He added: “The goal of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Ankara is to comprehensively inform the public of the brotherly country about the rich heritage of the Azerbaijani people. In this direction, we are implementing numerous programs and projects, including the translation of Nizami Ganjavi’s famous “Khamsa” into Turkish. The first two works – “İskendername” and “Sirler khazinasi” – have already been presented to a wide audience in Turkey. Next is the publication of “Leyli and Majnun”.

According to him, Nizami Ganjavi’s creativity is extensive and diverse, and many musical works have been composed based on his famous ghazals. “A concert program will be held in Ankara at the end of May, the repertoire of which will include the works of the great Nizami,” the head of the Center said.

He also informed the participants about the plans to organize a miniature exhibition on the work of the great Azerbaijani poet. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, including the Ankara Culture and Tourism Department, will actively support this initiative.

“Until the brotherly Turkish people have detailed information about Nizami Ganjavi and other prominent sons of Azerbaijan, we will continue to promote the heritage of Azerbaijan,” S. Abbasov assured.

Speaking later, Tahmina Badalova, a leading researcher at the Department of Nizami Studies of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor, spoke about the life path, philosophical and poetic creativity of the brilliant thinker of the 12th century.

T. Badalova drew the attention of the participants to the nationwide love for the heritage of Nizami Ganjavi in ​​Azerbaijan, and recalled the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev on declaring 2021 the “Year of Nizami Ganjavi”, as well as the instruction of the head of state of Azerbaijan to reconstruct the territory around the mausoleum of the humanist poet, which is one of the main attractions of modern Ganja.

In a conversation with AZERTAC, the Nizami scholar noted that he considers it his duty to promote the legacy of the great poet and thinker in brotherly Turkey, and emphasized the importance of the projects and programs implemented through the Azerbaijan Cultural Center operating under the embassy of our country in Ankara.
