On 10.04.2025, the lecture of Doctor of Philology, Professor Salida Sharifova on the topic of “Genre Confusion in Azerbaijani Novels” was heard. In the lecture, Salida Sharifova comparatively looked at the historical path of the novel genre in Azerbaijani and world literary studies, touched upon the lack of a unified approach to the concepts of literary types and genres of the novel, and the issues of genre confusion manifested in the novel genre. When talking about genre confusion in the novel, she provided extensive information about its three forms, namely inter-species, intra-species and intra-genre confusions, and also clarified that inter-species and intra-species confusions are conditionally combined into one group and presented as inter-genre confusion.
Salida Sharifova also touched on the development of communication technologies, which created new forms of information transmission, and the creation of works that can be broadcast via audio and film, as well as the Internet, and drew attention to the differences between audio novels, film novels, and hypertext novels. In addition to doctoral and dissertation students, internship students also participated in the presentation.
