ANAS Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature held an event on “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow of the Institute of Literature”. The event was attended by scientists of the Institute of Literature, scientific secretary, PhD in Philology, associate professor Aygun Bagirli, head of the Education Department, PhD in Philology, associate Professor Gunay Garayeva, head of the Electronic Services Department, PhD in Philology Zakira Aliyeva.
Opening the event the Deputy Director of the Institute, PhD in Philology, associate professor Mehman Hasanli provided extensive information on the Institute of Literature’s past, present and future. He noted that students from four higher education institutions are participating in the event dedicated to the place of the Institute of Literature in our history of science. Mehman Hasanli, who said that the Institute of Literature played a major role in the development of literary studies both throughout the 20th century and in the modern era, interpreted the students' presence at such an institution as an important stage in their lives.
He added that March 27 is Science Day. He emphasized that this day was established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the establishment of "Science Day" in the Republic of Azerbaijan dated April 9, 2018. At the same time, he recalled that President Ilham Aliyev signed a Decree "On the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences".
The President of ANAS also brought to attention that under the leadership of Academician Isa Habibbeyli, Azerbaijani literature has been comprehensively studied at the Institute of Literature from the most ancient times to the present day. He noted that in addition to studying various fields of literature in various departments, several Centers dedicated to the world and Turkic peoples have been opened. The Director of the Institute of Literature provided information about numerous publications published with the support of Academician Isa Habibbeyli. The participants were informed about the ten-volume History of Azerbaijani Literature, the "Artist's Scientific Passport" of which 60 books have been published so far, the history of the literature of the Turkic peoples, which is planned to be prepared in three languages, books dedicated to emigration literature, published and prepared encyclopedias, three academic journals included in the list of journals recommended by the AAK, the electronic library of the Institute of Literature, which is planned to be put into use, and other works.
At the event, doctors of philological sciences, professors Imamverdi Hamidov, head of the Department of Common Beginnings and Enlightenment Period Azerbaijani Literature, and Asif Rustamli, head of the Department of 20th Century (Soviet Period) Azerbaijani Literature, also spoke on the establishment of the Institute of Literature and its development path.
