An event dedicated to the 880th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi was held at the Union of Theater Figures of Azerbaijan on December 14.Opening the event, People's Artist Haji Ismayilov noted that a number of events dedicated to the great poet were held in our country this year by the order of President Ilham Aliyev. He said that today's event is organized by the Ministry of Culture, the Union of Theater Figures of Azerbaijan, the Sabail district organization of the New Azerbaijan Party and the National Conservatory.
Chairman of the Sabail district organization of the New Azerbaijan Party Mukhtar Nagiyev spoke about Nizami Ganjavi's work and the importance of declaring 2021 the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi". "Nizami Ganjavi preferred spiritual richness above all. He dedicated his immortal, unique work to the glorification of noble feelings, such noble qualities as humanism, kindness and justice. It is no exaggeration to say that Nizami Ganjavi is one of the greatest poets in the world, and his works will always be a source of inspiration for us, as well as for future generations, "Nagiyev said.
Employee of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology Zahra Allahverdiyeva spoke about Nizami Ganjavi's phenomenal human heritage, humanism, love for people, high morals, aesthetic pleasure, education and source of knowledge.
Musical numbers dedicated to the words of Nizami Ganjavi were performed at the event, and a play entitled "My skill is a sky" was presented.
