Scientific session devoted to 110th anniversary of academician Mammad Jafarov in ANAS

On December 26, Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS has hosted for a scientific session on topic "Academic Mammad Jafar Jafarov and Modern Problems of the Humanities of Azerbaijan".

As part of the event, organized by the Division of Humanities, an exhibition of works by the outstanding scientist was organized.

Opening the session, vice-president of ANAS, director of the Institute of Literature, academician Isa Habibbayli said that in 2019 the anniversary of many prominent writers and poets of Azerbaijan was celebrated at the national and world levels. He noted that 2019 was declared the "Year of Nasimi" by the head of the state and organized a series of conferences organized by the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences of ANAS, and published 33 books and monographs on poet in the academy.

I. Habibbayli also recalled the relevant decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev "On celebrating the 110th anniversary of academician Mammad Jafarov." He noted that the scientist with conceptual views is the author of numerous works and articles on the theory and history of literature, literary criticism and literary romanticism.

Stressing out the studies carried out at the Institute of Literature within the 110th anniversary of Mammad Jafar Jafarov, ANAS vice-president said that, his tragicomedy "Get dolangilen, khainsen hele” had been published and staged in Nakhchivan. In addition, Mammad Jafar Jafarov’s articles about Institute of Literature and Hero of the Soviet Union Hazi Aslanov have been revealed, generally 100 letters of scientist obtained. Revealed materials will be published in 2020, but there is a need for a 10-volume reprint of the writer's works, he added.

Then academician Teymur Karimli, academician-secretary of the Division of Humanities submitted a lecture on "Academician Mammad Jafarov and classical literary heritage”, and academician Mohsun Naghisoylu on "Academician Mammad Jafarov’s linguistic views”.

The event was followed with presentation of lectures by Doctors of Philological sciences Shirindil Alishanli, Tahira Mammad, Vagif Yusifli, and PhD in Study of Art Assoc. Prof. Vidadi Gafarov.

Finally, Prof. Ulduz Hashimova spoke on behalf of scientist’s family and expressed her gratitude to the event organizers and attendees.
