The 8th international conference on "Alisher Navai and the 21st century" launched

ANAS Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi launched  the 8th international conference on "Alisher Navai and the 21st century". The conference is co-organized by ANAS Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi, the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature after Alisher Navai and the National Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Bahrom Ashrafkhanov, scientists from Uzbekistan and Turkey, employees of several institutes of the Academy attended the conference.

Before the event, there was a viewing of the exhibition of works dedicated to Alisher Navai.

Opening the international conference, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, ANAS President  expressed his condolences to the brotherly country regarding the strong earthquake that occurred in Turkey and resulted in human casualties. Then, the memory of those who died as a result of the earthquake in brother Turkey was commemorated with a minute's silence. Also, the memory of Mahira Guliyeva, the Department head of the Institute of Literature, who passed away on these days was commemorated.

Academician Isa Habibbayli, who said that Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations have been developing in recent years, that President Ilham Aliyev has attached special importance to the development of relations with Turkey and Uzbekistan, said that the concept of "One nation, two states", which was said by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and proved at all levels is already expanding. He said that this slogan is already accepted as "One nation, three states" after the strengthening of relations with Uzbekistan, and this is an important event for the Turkic world. The head of ANAS noted that the personal relations of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, high friendship relations challenge the expansion of relations between our countries in economic, political, scientific, cultural, educational and many other fields.

Saying that Azerbaijan is the second homeland of Alisher Navai and the Navai's studies, the Academician pointed out that from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, the writer's manuscripts and works were widely spread in our country, involved in research and accepted by our people at the level of Fuzuli and Nasimi. Recalling the words of Samad Vurgun, "If I didn't know that Alishir Navai was born in Uzbekistan, I would have thought that he was an Azerbaijani", Academician Isa Habibbayli said that, even today Navai's heritage is deeply studied in our country, works that enrich the science of Navai studies are published, and scientific works are written. He also said that in 2020, the Alisher Navai Literary Studies Center was opened under the Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan Literary Relations Department of the Institute of Literature and is successfully operating. In his turn, he drew attention to the establishment of the Azerbaijan Culture, Education and Research Center named after Muhammad Fuzuli at Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature.

The head of ANAS, who said that extensive studies are being conducted in the direction of Alishir Navai's creativity in brother Turkey, noted that researches related to Navai are the best manifestation of Azerbaijan-Turkey-Uzbekistan relations. The president of ANAS said that the 8th international conference on "Alishir Navai and the 21st century" will challenge the re-examination of the writer's works in our country and wished success to the work of the event.

Then, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, rector of Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, professor Shukhrat Sirojiddinova presented a carpet with the portrait of Muhammad Fuzuli to be exhibited in the center named after Fuzuli in the mentioned university.

The Rector of Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, Professor Shukhrat Sirojiddinov made a speech and thanked him for the gift of the Fuzuli carpet and the organization of the conference. He spoke about his relations with the University he represents and its Institute of Literature. Academician Isa Habibbayli spoke about the effective activity of Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan literary relations.

At the opening of the conference, head of Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan literary relations department of the Institute of Literature Almaz Ülvi Binnatova, Doctor of Philology Nurboy Jabbarov, Professor of Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, Vahid Türk, Professor of Istanbul Culture University, Benedik Peri, head of the Department of Etvos Loran University of Hungary and South Korea Professor Oh Eun-Kyung of Dongduk University spoke on the development of Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations, as well as the importance of the conference and highly appreciated the research conducted in our country on Alishir Navai. At the same time, Nushaba Arasli, corresponding member of ANAS, Ramiz Askar, Elman Guliyev and Yashar Gasymbeyli, doctors of philological sciences, spoke about the work done and upcoming plans in their speeches. The event continued its work with panel meetings.
