Department of Humanitarian and Social Sciences held a scientific event on "The visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan and the new stage of the development of scientific relations" at ANAS Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi.  Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Bahrom Ashrafkhanov, Directors and employees of several Institutes of the Academy attended the scientific session.

ANAS Vice-President, Director of the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli opened the event and spoke on the visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan and the new stage of development of relations in the field of humanitarian sciences.

Academician Isa Habibbayli noted that that "Every year, conferences on Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations are held by various Institutes of the Academy, books are published. Today's meeting is completely different. The state visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan in June 2022, the documents signed there and the high-level welcoming ceremonies organized by Uzbekistan has formed a completely new historical stage in relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan multifaceted relations, which were founded by the great leader Heydar Aliyev and will continue to develop in a completely different direction by the visit of the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan and the agreements has reached there. The high level of hospitality has shown by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the state visit of AR Prezident, the opening of a park, street, bas-relief named after the great leader Heydar Aliyev in Uzbekistan is a clear example of the modern Uzbekistan state's respect for the President of Azerbaijan and the people of Azerbaijan. At the same time, the presence of Alishir Navain's statue in Baku and Nizami Ganjavi's statue in Tashkent, as well as the fact that we hold events there with you every year, show that this brotherhood has reached a new stage on historical foundations in connection with today's visit.

Among these directions, science also occupies a special place. Within the framework of Mr. President's visit, the agreement signed between Azerbaijan-Uzbek science academies by academician Arif Hashimov, acting president of ANAS, and president of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences, Behzad Yoldashev, will give a great stimulus to more intensive development of scientific relations. That agreement is the first document signed in this direction during the period of independence.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had donated the manuscript by Muhammad Fuzuli to the President of Azerbaijan. There are valuable manuscripts by Alishir Navai in the manuscript fund of Azerbaijan. I believe that, one of the main issues that lie ahead after the visit of AR President to Uzbekistan is the statement of our fraternal duty to prepare the Azerbaijan catalog of Alishir Navai and to print his manuscripts stored in Baku. Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan relations have reached a strategic level for Azerbaijan. It is our duty to further develop this field by following the example of the steps taken by our presidents. You know that the Alishir Navai Center operates at the Institute of Literature. The main issue facing us now is to study Alishir Navai and Azerbaijani literature, Alishir Navai and the Turkic world again and more systematically.

Then the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Bahrom Ashrafkhanov spoke and expressed his gratitude for the visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan and the organization of a scientific session on the new stage of the development of scientific relations. He emphasized that "a historic event has taken place in the relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. On June 21-22, with the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, about twenty documents covering various fields were signed between the two countries. All of these are important. We should especially emphasize those in the field of culture and science.

At the same time, Ambassador Bahrom Ashrafkhanov recalled the events organized by the Embassy and the Institute of Literature until now, and emphasized that our future cooperation will be more intensive.

Academician Teymur Karimli, Director of the Institute of Manuscripts  after Muhammad Fuzuli, Ertegin Salamzadeh,  Director of the Institute of Architecture and Art, ANAS correspondent member, Professor Nadir Mammadli, Director of the Institute of Linguistics  after Nasimi and Almaz Ulvi, Doctor of Philology, Head of the Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan Literary Relations Department of the Institute of Literature delivered their papers.
