The event was attended by ANAS President, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, members of the Presidium, Department heads of the Presidium apparatus, members of the section, directors of scientific institutions of the section, deputy directors, scientific secretaries, as well as authors of important scientific results, department heads, young scientists and specialists and relevant persons.
First, there was a viewing of the exhibition reflecting the achievements of the Department of Humanities (HEB), Nakhchivan Department, Central Scientific Library and "Elm" publishing house for 2024, published scientific works and books.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli opened the meeting and provided information on the agenda of the event.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that this year, in addition to the scientific departments and regional centers of ANAS, for the first time, reports on the activities of the "Azerbaijan National Encyclopedia" Scientific Center, the Central Scientific Library, the "Elm" publishing house and the Republican Seismological Service Center under ANAS were presented to the public at the meetings of the Presidium.
He noted that at today's meeting, the reports of the Department of Humanities, the Nakhchivan Department, the Central Scientific Library and the "Elm" publishing house of ANAS will be heard, and as demonstrated in the large exhibition organized before the event, more than 300 valuable, encyclopedic publications, dictionaries and fundamental works were created in the mentioned organizations in the reporting year. He said that among these, the literary and cultural environment of Karabakh, folklore, architectural monuments and fundamental works on the "Great Return" occupy a special place.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that the presentation at the UNESCO level of the new edition of the dictionary, published by the Institute of Linguistics of ANAS based on the translation by Khalid Said Khojayev, on the occasion of the 950th anniversary of Mahmud Kashgari's "Divan-i Lughat-it Turk", is one of the rare events in the 80-year history of the Academy.
Touching upon the activities of the Department of Humanities in 2024, Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that the international relations of the institutions of the department have expanded and the electronic movement has gained wide scope. He noted that the activities of the Department of Humanities generally encompass national ideas such as independent statehood, Azerbaijaniness, and patriotism, and the employees of the department work tirelessly in this ideological direction.
He also emphasized that the employees of the department have been tirelessly working in accordance with the Decree of the Head of State “On the Celebration of the 530th Anniversary of the Great Azerbaijani Poet Muhammad Fuzuli”, and that more than 10 books dedicated to the outstanding writer have been created and presented to the public at the 10th Baku International Book Fair.
Touching upon scientific publications, Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that the journal “Comparative Literary Studies” of the Institute of Literature has been included in the Turkish Dergi Park electronic database register, and that measures are currently being taken to expand this list. In addition, he said that the "Electronic Academy" department of the Presidium of ANAS has taken measures to create an electronic database of 31 journals published at the Academy. He noted that the enrichment of electronic resources of journals will open the way for summarizing these publications in international databases in the future.
Touching upon the activities of the Nakhchivan Department, the head of ANAS said that the department's employees are ranked first in the Academy in terms of the number of articles per capita.
He noted that the reforms implemented in the Central Scientific Library have been observed with positive progress in the scientific and organizational activities of the institution, and significant achievements have been achieved in a short time in the direction of the electronic library.
Also, based on the decisions of the Presidium of ANAS, the personal bibliographies of 14 full and corresponding members of ANAS were published in 2024.
Taking into account the above, the Presidium adopted a relevant decision.
In his final speech, academician Isa Habibbeyli highly appreciated the activities of the Department of Humanities, the Nakhchivan Department, the Central Scientific Library and the "Elm" publishing house for 2024, drew attention to the tasks facing them, and gave relevant instructions.
