On December 9 ANAS Electronic Assembly Hall of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature held the presentation ceremony of the book “The Great Turkish Poet Nazim Hikmet and the Turkish World”.
The author of the book, published by the decision of the Scientific Council of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature, is Professor Ali Qafgasyalı, Head of the Faculty of Literature and the Department of Turkish Language and Literature of Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University in Turkey. The first pages of the book begin with a “Foreword” by the President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, entitled “The Wisdom of the Art of Nazim Hikmet”. Binali Yıldırım, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States, also wrote a “Foreword” to the book.
The presentation ceremony was attended by state officials, guests from Turkey, scientists and cultural figures, well-known literary scholars, public representatives, and members of the media.
ANAS President, Director of the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli opened the event and noted that the head of state has identified strengthening relations with the Turkic world as a priority direction.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli recalled that the III International Turkological Congress was held at ANAS last week with the participation of representatives of the countries of the Turkic world, and stated that the event in question is of great importance as one of the most important results of the integrity, completeness and further strengthening of the Turkic world.
The head of ANAS spoke about the rich heritage of Nazim Hikmet, one of the great figures of world literature of the 20th century, and drew attention to the aspects of the poet's life and creative path related to Azerbaijan. He noted that the poet's first book, "The Song of Those Who Drink the Sun," was published in Azerbaijan, which he considered his second homeland, in 1928. The first article dedicated to the poet was written by the prominent critic of the time, Ali Nazim, in Baku. The article was called "We Drink the Sun... We Sunbathe." Ali Nazim especially emphasized the influence of the great Turkish poet on contemporary Azerbaijani poetry.
Then, the author of the publication, Professor Ali Qafqasyali, Head of the Faculty of Literature and the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University in Turkey, spoke about the merits of the book and thanked the organizers and participants of the event.
Professor Ali Qafqasyali said that the Azerbaijani-Turkish unity and brotherhood are eternal and unshakable, and drew attention to the preparation of a common literature of the Turkic world.
Necdet Tozlu, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences of Erzincan Binali Yildirim University in Turkey, Mati Osmanoglu, Associate Professor of the Department of Azerbaijani Literature of the Faculty of Philology of Baku State University, Professor Gazanfar Pashayev, Senior Researcher of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature, Critic-Literary Scholar, Doctor of Philology, Member of the Milli Majlis Elnara Akimova, Head of the Department of World Literature and Comparative Studies of the Institute of Literature, Professor Guler Abdullabeyova and others spoke at the event and noted the serious influence of the writer on Azerbaijani literature, including Soviet literature. The speeches emphasized that Nazim Hikmet is one of the giants of the world of words who are always remembered in the history of Azerbaijani, Turkish and world literature.
