ANAS hosted presentation of a documentary about Kirkuk researcher Ata Terzibashi

The Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences hosted a presentation of a documentary produced by the Kirkuk Cultural Association and dedicated to the prominent researcher Ata Terzibashi.

Speaking at the event, ANAS President Academician Isa Habibbeyli touched upon the literary relations between Iraqi Turkmens and Azerbaijan, stating that these relations stem from common national and spiritual values ​​based on ancient historical roots. Stating that Great Leader Heydar Aliyev always paid special attention to the development of Kirkuk-Azerbaijani relations, Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that this policy was continued by President Ilham Aliyev, and that the Coordinating Council for Iraqi-Turkmen Studies was established at ANAS in the interests of our state. He noted that during the past period, the council has taken important steps to coordinate and systematically coordinate research on Iraqi-Turkmen history, language, literature, culture, ethnography and folklore.

head of ANAS, who said that the outstanding researcher Ata Terzibashi had historical services in the development of Kirkuk-Azerbaijani relations, drew attention to the fact that an international scientific conference was held at the academy this year on the occasion of his 100th anniversary, and the presentation of Shamsaddin Kuzechi's book "Eta Terzibashi, the National Researcher of Kirkuk" took place.

He also touched upon the activities of Professor Gazanfar Pashayev, an employee of the Institute of Literature, in the development of Kirkuk-Azerbaijani relations, stating that he is the voice of Kirkuk in the world, and highly appreciated the scientist's work "Six Years on the Tigris-Euphrates Coasts".

In addition, he emphasized that the first dissertation dedicated to Ata Terzibashi in our country was written by Orkhan Isayev, a scientific worker of the Institute of Literature, and is on the verge of defense.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that representatives of ANAS will also participate in the conference to be held in Iraq on the occasion of the 530th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Muhammad Fuzuli, and that this visit will contribute to the development of our literary relations.

Then, Professor Gazanfar Pashayev spoke about his research on the Iraqi Turkmen, scientific and cultural relations, and his activities during the years he worked as a translator in Iraq. He said that in 1994, at the initiative of the Great Leader, a large delegation from Azerbaijan participated in the events marking the 500th anniversary of Muhammad Fuzuli. He noted that the great Leader had special sympathy for our compatriots in Iraq, and in an interview with the magazine "Qardashlig" published in Istanbul, he emphasized the words "When I studied history, I saw that the Turkmens of South Azerbaijan, North Azerbaijan and Iraq are parts of a single whole."

In his speech, the head of the Kirkuk Cultural Association, Shamsaddin Kuzachi, expressed his gratitude for the attention shown to Ata Terzibashi's creativity and to the Iraqi Turkmen in general, and said that literary relations have reached a high level in recent years. He said that a number of events are planned to further expand joint cooperation, and that Kirkuk Cultural Days will be organized in 2025, and provided information about the film that has been created.

At the end, a documentary film dedicated to the prominent researcher Ata Terzibashi was shown. In the film, academician Isa Habibbeyli, professor Gazanfar Pashayev, and research worker Orkhan Isayev also shared their thoughts and memories about Ata Terzibashi's creativity.
