The Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Vienna hosted an event titled “Poet in my heart”, marking the 530th birth anniversary of the outstanding Azerbaijani poet and thinker Mahammad Fuzuli.
The event, organized as part of the implementation of the Order on the “Celebration of the 530th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Mahammad Fuzuli” signed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, head of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center, Leyla Gasimova spoke about the life and work of Mahammad Fuzuli, whom the Azerbaijani people gave to human culture.
It was brought to our attention that M. Fuzuli, who created perfect examples of poetry in the Azerbaijani language and further enriched our language, left behind a rich literary and artistic heritage, formed a significant literary school, and many famous poets considered themselves his students. It was no coincidence that the great Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli, when composing the first opera in the Muslim East, turned to Fuzuli's work and took his poem "Leyli and Majnun" as a basis.
Then the “Anima Shirvani” ensemble, led by the famous musician Tural Ismayilov, performed with a concert program. At the concert, Azerbaijani mugham and folk songs were presented in unity with classical German and English baroque music, and poems of the famous poet were also recited by an artistic reader.
At the concert, along with composers such as Fikrat Amirov, Ali Ufki, Gazi Giray Khan, Diego Ortiz, Samuel Scheidt, John Dowland, Michael Pretorius, Azerbaijani mughams, folk songs and dances were met with great interest and applause in the presentation of musical instruments of the baroque period.
