On October 18, 1991, the Constitutional Act "On the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan" was adopted. According to the Constitutional Act "On the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan", the people of Azerbaijan regained their independence on October 18, 1991. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, has signed a law on the celebration of October 18 as the Independence Restoration Day from 2021 on the occasion of the first time since 1991 that the Azerbaijani people celebrate this holiday in a completely different way, as a victorious nation that has restored its territorial integrity.
