The 1st Chinese international scientific conference on Azerbaijani studies was held in Beijing under the motto "Strengthen China-Azerbaijan relations in the spirit of the Silk Road".
The purpose of the event organized and hosted by the Beijing Foreign Languages University (PFU) is to contribute to the scientific introduction of the ancient history, language and culture of Azerbaijan in China, to deeply explore the cultural relations between the two nations, to evaluate the current potential of economic relations in a scientific way, and to stimulate the development of the science of Azerbaijani studies in China.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Gao Gang, vice-chancellor of Beijing Foreign Languages University, pointed out that the conference is very important in terms of promoting academic exchange between the two countries and jointly promoting "One Belt, One Road" cooperation.
Gao Gang said that he hoped that the life of the science of Azerbaijani studies in China would be as long and continuous as the Silk Road.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to China, Bunyad Huseynov, spoke about the history and current state of relations between the two countries, and expressed confidence that the conference will make an important contribution to bringing the scientific and cultural circles of Azerbaijan and China closer together. He emphasized that numerous events aimed at promoting Azerbaijani culture in China and Chinese culture in Azerbaijan created a foundation for peoples to get closer to each other. He said that, thanks to the teaching of the Azerbaijani language as a specialty at PXSU, the Azerbaijani language department conducting numerous researches related to Azerbaijani studies, and organizing scientific events, Azerbaijani studies began to form as an independent research direction in China.
At the conference, executive director of the Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi, Ph.D. in Philology Mehman Hasanli delivered a paper on the concept and application of periodization of Azerbaijani literature and Doctor in Philology Salida Sharifova delivered a pape on the topic of Sino-Azerbaijani cooperation.
