ANAS Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature held a scientific seminar on "Contemporary Turkmen literature".
The event was attended by ANAS President, Academician Isa Habibbayli, Chairman of the Coordination Council for Iraqi-Turkman Studies established by the decision of ANAS Presidium, Academician Teymur Karimli, Kirkuk poet, researcher, musicologist, literary critic, public figure Dr. Shamseddin Kuzechi, scientists from Kazakhstan and scientific staff of the Academy.
First, a book exhibition devoted to the topic of the seminar was demonstrated.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli opened the event and spoke about the relations between Iraqi-Turkmen and Azerbaijani literature and emphasized the special role of works written in the Khoryat genre in the literature of Kirkuk. He noted that Shamseddin Kuzachi, who is the author of more than 70 books on Kirkuk literature, provides a great service in the development of Iraq-Azerbaijan, Kirkuk-Azerbaijan scientific and literary relations. Academician Isa Habibbayli, who said that Iraqi-Azerbaijani literary and cultural relations are developing at a high level today, said that these relations serve to strengthen our compatriots living in Kirkuk by establishing schools and culture in their mother tongue.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli pointed out that at the meeting of ANAS Presidium on July 12, 2023, the Coordinating Council for Iraqi-Turkmen Studies was established, to coordinate and systematically coordinate research on Iraqi-Turkmen history, language, literature, culture, ethnography and folklore. implementation of relevant measures was ordered. The head of ANAS emphasized that the first meeting of the council was held these days, discussions were held on "Historical-dialectological description of the Iraqi-Turkman dialect" and said that the activities in this direction will be continued.
ANAS head also spoke about the need to publish a book containing the scientific articles of Iraqi-Turkmen scientists.
Then, Academician Isa Habibbayli presented to Dr.Shamseddin Kuzechi the "Honorary Doctor" diploma of the Institute of Literature for his outstanding services in the field of research and promotion of Azerbaijani-Iraqi-Turkman literature, effective relations with the scientific and literary circles of Azerbaijan.
Shamseddin Kuzachi, who spoke later, expressed his gratitude to Academician Isa Habibbeyli for the organization of the event and the high value given to its activities. S. Kuzechi delivered a report on "Contemporary Turkmen literature", reviewed the history of Iraqi Turkmen settlement in Iraq. The researcher, who created a general picture of contemporary Turkmen literature gave detailed information on the works done and noted that he has prepared a two-volume anthology of contemporary Turkmen poets.
Academician Teymur Karimli, Chairman of ANAS Coordination Council for Iraqi-Turkmen Studies and Professor Gazanfar Pashayev, Deputy Chairman of the Council, Doctor of Philology highly appreciated the importance of the work done and said that the council has prepared a broad action plan.
Also, Kazakh scientist Aghmaral Ismagulova, Doctor of Philology, Professor Imamverdi Hamidov and Doctor of History Güllü Yoloğlu expressed their confidence that this event will give a great boost to the future works related to modern Turkmen literature.
