The first issue of the Russian newspaper "Bakinsky listok" was published in Baku on March 6, 1871.
The newspaper publishes articles on the world events using Russian and European press, as well as industrialization, shipping, fishing, agriculture, oil industry, engineering, urban life, and so on, also provided small articles covering the area.
The editor of the newspaper was Christian Sink, of German descent. He was sent from St. Petersburg in 1868 by the Order of Alexander the Great to the Baku Gymnasium as a German teacher. From time to time the newspaper has published articles that are of interest to us today. One of such articles is about Zeynalabdin Tagiyev by N.Narimanov "Father of the Nation".
