A scientific session dedicated to the 125th anniversary of prominent chronicler Gulam Mammadli was held

ANAS Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature hed a scientific session dedicated to the 125th anniversary of prominent chronicler Gulam Mammadli. The scientific session was opened by the ANAS Vice-President  Director of ANAS Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi, Academician Isa Habibbayli, who thanked the guests for coming.

He noted that, “Gulam Mammadli is a great chronicler who created the tradition of chronicling. The main source for the history of our literature in the Middle Ages were commentaries. The greatest source for the science of history is the chronicles.Gulam Mammadli's merit is that he created literary chronicles instead of historical ones that existed for centuries. He is the founder of the literary chronicle genre in Azerbaijan. He was first known as the chronicler of Molla Nasreddin. Later, he prepared significant chronicles about Huseyn Javid, Nariman Narimanov and others and handed them over to the scientific community. After years of research to create a chronicle, he wrote "Modern poets of Iranian Azerbaijan", "Sattarkhan" collection of poems, "Khiyabani", "Anthology of South Azerbaijani poets", "Golden Pages" collection of documents compiled with Gilman Ilkin, "Atmacalar", "Aliaga Vahid. Selected works ”,“ Door thief”,“Mammadali Manafzadeh Sabit”. Poems, stories and articles” and other publications.

On the 140th anniversary of Jalil Mammadguluzadeh, as the rector of Nakhchivan State University, we published three works on Mirza Jalil in Nakhchivan on the basis of the state program, one of which was the chronicle of Gulam Mammadli. Today, we respect his memory and want to put his works into circulation".

Then, the head of the Department of Literary Criticism, Doctor of Philology Vagif Yusifli delivered a comprehensive paper on "Life and creativity of Gulam Mammadli". “Molla Nasraddin”, “Huseyn Arablinsky”, “Chronicle of Azerbaijan Theater” compiled by Gulam Mammadli (1897-1994) - two parts, “Uzeyir Hajibeyov”, “Javid for life”, “Nariman Narimanov”, “Abbas Mirza Sharifzadeh” and other chronicle was listed. 

Then, Doctor of History Sciences Solmaz Tohidi, Baku Statate UniversatyProfessor, Doctor of History Sciences Nasiman Yagublu, Executive Secretary of "Adabiyyat Gazeti", Honored Cultural Worker, theater critic Atababa Ismayiloglu, Institute of Literature Leading researcher, PhD in Philology Gulbaniz Babayeva delivered their a papers on "Gulam Mammadli and "Molla Nasraddin" journal.

The head of the Department of Press History and Publicism, Doctor of philology, Professor Vugar Ahmad in his report on“A part of G.Mammadli's personal archive materials, consisting of 38 storage units, which has passed a rich and multifaceted creative path, has been preserved in the fund of the Institute of Manuscripts after Muhammad Fuzuli of ANAS since 1975. Two books from his personal archive have been published. A description book by Afag Aliyeva and Parvana Teyyubova's Gulam Mammadli archive has been published.

Among these materials, there are two biographies, that attract attention at first glance. One of them is a 3-page black typewriter printed in Russian in 1972, and the "Short Biography" is an autograph written in 1979 in the Azerbaijani language in the Cyrillic alphabet. These biographies are valuable in terms of covering the life and activity of G. Mammadli until 1980...

Today, ANAS Institute of Manuscripts of after M.Fuzuli has various manuscripts belonging to G.Mammadli, of which the personal fund includes printed and non-printed materials, and most importantly, "Tazkira" in the form of manuscripts. "Tazkira" was published by Aybaniz Rahimova.

At the event  also  was demonstrated "Salnamechi" (Gulam Mammadli) TV documentary.
